Masterful.....

7:54 am - Friday - 59º F, humidity 68%, wind 11 mph out of the southeast......cloudy and drizzly right now......chance of rain.....100%.

We began our Thursday with another 2+ mile walk on the local beach.....this times southward......in the picture below you can see where vehicles drive on the beach....everything from Class A motorhomes to large 5th wheels (and everything in between) pass us on the way to the Pismo Dune area where you can ride your own sand toys if you've got them (quads, sand rails, Razrs, etc.), or rent other people's sand toys to ride in the dunes.....

Pulling even with the sand dunes

.....on this particular day I felt like we were playing 'tag' with all of the vehicle traffic.....I know, I know.....the pictures I took show no vehicles, right?  This was the only time I felt safe to stop and take a picture.....:-)  The skies were quite overcast then, and that continued all day long into the evening......

You can see a few vehicles coming towards our position to the left in this panoramic shot

.....we were back home by 11 am and almost immediately on our way into Arroyo Grande to a meat market (Arroyo Grande Meat Company) TLE had found online.....she wanted to pick up some high end filets for me to grill Thursday night....

.....we have never been to Arroyo Grande in the all the years we have been coming to the Pismo Beach area so I was pleasantly surprised at the cool downtown area which greeted us.  TLE managed to snag  two center cut filets for about $19.......if we went out to a nice restaurant and ordered filet mignon we would pay somewhere in the neighborhood of $28-$48 per filet, and there is no doubt they would be amazing.  On the otherhand TLE is a an excellent chef and usually produces a plate for which I would willingly pay $48.....of course, I am the grill master.

I spent the afternoon cleaning the all the bugs off the windshield, and then got really inspired and spent time polishing up the chrome air horn 'trumpets' (there are two) on top of the cab area of the coach.....it has been a while since I worked on them and they looked quite sad.....

.....they are looking 'proud' and shinny once again.

The rest of the day was spent watching the first round of the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA.  Around 5 pm we decided to have our first fire since our Borrego Springs sojourn.....it has just been too windy, or inconvenient during that time, but Thursday evening seemed to be the time to burn the rest of the wood we have been carrying around for almost a 1,000 miles now.  While that was going on I got out the Sea-B-Que in preparation for those two beautiful filets we bought earlier in the day.  TLE prepared two sides......a salad and caramelized carrots to accompany these amazing cuts of meat.....and I wish I had taken a picture of the finished product.....sigh.

So, day two in Oceano comes to an end......we are enjoying the quiet nights......no wind, no sirens, no traffic noise......just the sound of the ocean in the background.....thanks for stopping by!
