Walkin' and Talkin'

7:15 am - PST - Wednesday - 49º F, 61% humidity, wind 5 mph out of the east....blue skies with a forecast high of 76º F for Wednesday.

Getting our house batteries back to 100% each day in our new river front site is proving to be an impossible dream.  The problem is that the trees to the right of our coach in the picture below block the sun, and put shadows on one, or more of our solar panels until 10 am each morning, which significantly reduces the power going to our batteries, so we lose about 2.5 hours of precious charging time each morning, and then we lose the sun's rays to another tree located to the rear of our site about 50' about 3 pm losing another hour of charging time.  As a result we got back to just 93% on Monday, and just 96% on Tuesday.  Ah well, it is what it is, right?  That's why we have the small Predator 2000 generator, and the big Kohler 7.5 kw generator.  Sometimes you pay a price for a great view.

The weather was so delightful Tuesday that I sat outside drinking coffee and reading for an hour, or so.  TLE suggested we go for a hike around 10:30 over to Emerald Cove where our friends Steve and Candy are staying for a couple of weeks.  Emerald Cove Resort is a Colorado River Adventures park.....CRA is similar to Thousand Trails only on a smaller scale.  They have several membership RV parks in California and Arizona located on the Colorado River.  The park is less than a mile walk from Crossroads.......

.....Steve and Candy were the ones who sponsored us for Elks membership almost a year ago, and Candy and TLE worked together for almost 25 years.  When we caught up with them they were sitting outside with a number of their friends who are also Elks members.  We've shared many meals at the Fontana/Rialto Elks Lodge with these folks over the past year, and it is one of the reasons why we joined that particular lodge.  We sat talking for about an hour, and then resumed our walk back to Crossroads covering 2.1 miles in all.

Next up for me was to finish the cleaning job I began in Quartzite, and since the driver's side was conveniently in the shade all afternoon I decided to take advantage of that.  It took me over an hour to put a smile back on that driver's side.....I still had a small section on the very rear of the coach, which I decided to postpone that final section until Wednesday.

We sat outside for a couple more hours in the afternoon before the early evening chill chased us inside once again.  Around 6 pm (PST) we drove the VW over to Emeral Cove Resort (hauling a couple of chairs) to enjoy an evening fire with our Elks friends.......we were home by 7:30.......another good day.

Thanks for stopping by!
