A day well lived!

8:25 am - Wednesday - July 11th - Southwest Harbor, ME - 65º F, 63% humidity, wind 10 mph out of the north by northeast.....partly cloudy with a forecast high of 71º F.....perfect hiking day!

The number one thing on my list of things to do Tuesday was to visit Harbor Barber and have Tanya lower my ears a tad.  It had been almost exactly 6 weeks since my first visit to Harbor Barber.....just about the perfect interval.  There were three people ahead of me which meant about 45 minutes before it would be my turn so TLE and I walked over to McEachern  and Hutchins Hardware Store to buy a small tarp for our wood pile, and some two sided tape.  Like many names here in northeastern Maine McEachern is not pronounced like it is spelled.......the locals pronounce it 'Makakern'.

From there we visited  a local wine and cheese shop which TLE had been itching to visit since we arrived back in May.  They were not yet open for the season then, but they are now.  She picked up a bottle of Honig Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc and some Red Dragon Cheese for later consumption during the semi final World Cup match between France and Belgium.

We were back at Harbor Barber where Tanya was just finishing up the last person before me.....perfect timing!  Tanya is very personable, and we talked about this and that for over 20 minutes.  Just as it was 6 weeks ago this haircut was perfect.    When I say perfect, I mean this haircut will look good for 6 weeks.  As you know, some haircuts look good for a few days and then they don't.  We were back home about 20 minutes before the start of the France/Belgium soccer match.  We watched the first half inside the Newell with the A/C on as it was a little warm, and humid outside.  The first half ended in a scoreless tie.  By the time the second half began the temp had dropped with the humidity so I deployed our outdoor TV........

.......whilst TLE deployed the aforementioned Red Dragon Cheese and Honig Sauvignon Blanc.......let the second half begin!

France scored a goal at about the 56th minute and that was it.....Belgium had many, many great scoring opportunities, but they came up short losing in regulation (plus 6 minutes of 'added time') 1-nil.  Next up:  England/Croatia on Wednesday.

It was so nice outside that we stayed outside watching a couple of recorded programs, after which I put some wood in the outdoor fireplace and we sat by the fire until almost 8 pm.....a very nice end to a perfect day.........another day well lived.......
