Repeat that......

6:19 am - Friday - July 1st - Likely, CA - 50° F, humidity 49%, wind - CALM.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 86° F.  On this date in 2013 TLE and I were headed north to Great Falls, MT on our way into Alberta, Canada......our friends took this great picture of our coach and trailer........↴

Northbound on US-191...a wonderful, scenic drive

I had plans to play the back 9 here at LPG&RVR around 10 am before it got hot, and was sitting out on the 'lido deck' with TLE enjoying the morning air around 9 am when I leaned back in the Adirondack chair, and heard a loud wooden crack....uh oh!?  It turned out the piece of wood under the left arm rest cracked where one of the 3/8" bolts goes through it.  Well, I'm not one to let needed repairs sit idle, so I swung into action to fix the crack using Gorilla Glue....what great stuff!  Within minute I had the armrest disassembled, Gorilla Glue applied, and the piece clamped.  I also used a little 'plumbers tape' to give that weak spot a little more integrity.....

By the time I finished the repair it was after 11 am, and getting too hot to play golf, so I decided to finish a repair I was making to one of the awning arms.  Up where it attaches to the roofline of the coach the four screw holes had wallowed out over time, so I removed the arm, and filled the four holes with JB Weld, let it cure over night, and then on Thursday morning I drilled the new holes, and reattached the arm.....the screws now can be tightened completely, and securely.....

Left, upper awning arm

.....you may recall I did the same for the right, upper awning arm when we were at the Elks Lodge in Fontana back in April.

Around 3 pm I headed over to the Clubhouse to pick up a bucket of balls, and assess the 'state of my golf swing'.  I usually choose a small bucket of balls, but this time I chose the large one.  I began with my 3 wood, and hit 5, or 6 really nice shots.  Then I switched to my driver, and hit a few over 200 yards, and pretty straight, too.  From there I pulled out my #7 fairway wood and began to hit balls off the grass....amazingly I hit a number of nice, straight shots.  By the end of the bucket of balls I had used every single club, and counted fewer than 10 bad shots.  So, what did I discover?  Well, on my bad shots I didn't keep my head down through the shot.  As long as I kept my head down through the shot it went straight, and long.  I seem to be getting closer to a 'repeating swing', and by that I mean I swing the club the same every single time....I just need to keep my head down.  That's the first time I've come home from the driving range feeling good about my golf swing in several weeks.  I'm now going to sign up for a golf lesson to fine tune my swing.

Even though it is getting hotter here at LRG&RVR the heat leaves the air pretty quickly at night, and it is still getting down into the high 40's overnight.  We only run our A/C a few hours a day, and usually by 5, or 6 pm it is cool enough to turn it off and open the windows.  It appears over the 4th of July weekend the temps will drop into the low 80's, then into the low 70's Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.....nice.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. There's nothing like making progress. I have no doubt by the end of the summer you'll be killing it on the course.
