Taking a day off work.....

6:33 am - Thursday - November 7th - TWW - 26° F, humidity 56%, wind 6 mph out of the northeast....crystal clear, blue, sunny day today with a forecast high of 51° F. On this date in 2017 TLE and I had just arrived at the Desert View entrance (east entrance) to the Grand Canyon to work in the General Store.....

It was breezy most of Wednesday, and by late morning it was up to 18 mph out of the east.  The high for the day was projected to be just 48° F, so we opted to remain inside most of the day, however, we did need to dump the black tank effluent, and refill our fresh water tank as we were down to 20 gallons after 8 days.  This is only the second time we've dumped our black tank since we arrived on October 20th, and the same for filling our fresh water tank, but we left everything setup from the first time to speed up the process.  It was just a matter of opening the dump valve and turning on the macerator pump (12 gpm).  Within 40 minutes we had purged the black tank, and refilled the fresh water tank.  That was it for our outdoor activity Wednesday.

We spent time watching election returns.  Why does it take so long for Arizona and Nevada to count their ballots?  As I write Arizona has only counted 69% of their ballots. Weird.  Charles and Phyllis were slated to return to TWW Wednesday, and they arrived around 4 pm.  TLE and I had gone into the house to light the wood stove so the house would be warm by the time they arrived.....

....it works so well now that we've cleared the ash from the air inlets!

With them they brought a lot of stuff we had ordered off eBay and Amazon, including my first pair of overalls, which are of the Carhartt variety.....they are a perfect fit.....

.....I love my Carhartt pants, but I need suspenders for them as I am just too skinny now (at 178 right now), so these will be a welcome relief to having to pull my pants up all the time....lol!  Never thought I would become an overall guy.  I will be acquiring some suspenders in the near future.  They also delivered a lot of the supplies I need to complete the installation of our wind generator.  There were so many boxes it felt like Christmas....lol!

As I write it is very cold outside....around 27° F, but with our three Suburban gas furnaces blazing, it is quite comfortable inside.  Today we are taking another road trip with Charles and Phyllis west to Hemet, CA where they will pickup the 1982 Newell Classic sister coach I wrote about a few days ago.  Yup, that's right, the new owner is my sister-in-law, so it is staying in the family....very, very cool!  We'll get all the paperwork signed, exchange dollars for a title, and then drive about an hour back to Cabazon where we will overnight at the Morongo Casino and Resort.  None of us like driving at night, and we can get there before sundown.  Friday we'll drive the final 300+ miles back to TWW, and hopefully get back here (TWW) mid afternoon.

I will, most likely, be able to post my next blogpost tomorrow morning, as is my normal custom, so there should be no interruption.

Thanks for stopping by!
