.....off Rock House Road for the first time with good friends Steven, Linda and Mike, all whom we met on the road over the previous 4 years. We have returned many, many times to this area since then.
We're in the middle of the longest stretch of very little direct sunlight in our two winters here at The Wilson Wilderness. The ground has been damp for the better part of a month, only drying out a little between rain. Frankly, when we arrived back in late October there had just been a rain storm. I'm pretty sure this is one of the wetter Fall and Winter times thru which this part of Northern Arizona has gone in recent memory.
Our plan for Saturday was to finish painting the remaining furring strips Charles and Phyllis delivered to us last week, so we can finish securing the north side of the greenhouse Visqueen to the framework. Once that is complete, we are essentially done with the greenhouse renovation we began last Winter. It is not a good idea to try to apply paint when the temperature outdoors is under 50° F, so we were not out there doing any painting until well after 12 pm, when the temp finally reached 52° F.
We were able to get 1 complete coat of paint applied, and hope to finish the second coat Sunday, temperature permitting. Due to the cold and wet conditions the past 10 days we haven't been able to accomplish much. The ground is still so wet that trying to work anywhere on the property where there is red clay, which is most of it, is tough due to the red clay mud. On occasion I've spent more time cleaning red clay mud off my work boots, than actually working....lol!
There were two NFL games played Saturday: Carolina Panthers vs. Tampa Bay, and Seahawks vs. 49ers. Both were low scoring affairs. The Bucs managed to outlast the Panthers, at home, 16-14, and the nightcap between the Seahawks and 49ers was a defensive classic with the Seahawks (visitor) holding the high scoring 49er offense to 3 points, winning handily 13-3, and it wasn't really that close. The Seahawks dominated time of possession 38 minutes to 22 minutes. The 49ers had only 173 yards of total offense. By the end of the game the 49er defense was running on fumes.
We had some great news yesterday that the Federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled California's ban on 'open carry' has been ruled unconstitutional, which to me was obvious. That it took this many years to reach that conclusion is a mystery. Of course, California will appeal it all the way to the Supreme Court, where they will lose. That law is just one of many California laws regarding gun rights to have been declared unconstitutional in the past few years, and there are more to come. At some point our society will have to deal with the real problem, which is the mentally ill, criminals, and many others who are just bad people. That's my two cents, and I'm sticking to it. Please do not feel compelled to comment either way, as neither positive, nor negative comments on this issue will be published. It's just my non political, common sense opinion.
Thanks for stopping by!
