'Folding up the tent....'

One of the things I have enjoyed about this impromptu 10 day stay in Riverside is spending time with my grand daughter, Charlie (short for Charlise).......while mom (Kate) is getting dressed and ready for work Charlie eats her cereal and watches 'Looney Tunes' cartoons.....I love sitting with her, sipping a cup of 'joe', and watching cartoons with her that I watched when I was her age.....I find my self laughing at the same scenes which make her laugh.....funny 60 years ago is still funny today.  My theme on this stop in town has been 'this is the best part of life', and I am reminded everyday of it's simple truth.  Soon it was time for Charlie to brush her teeth, and leave for school with her mom, and I once again retreated to the coach to finish typing Tuesday's blog entry.

'Charlie'

Around mid morning I headed out to finish the cleaning job I started when we were staying at RJRP by cleaning the front cap, including the windshield, and the rear cap, as well as the front of the trailer.  After that I opened up all the basement storage bins and wiped off the insides of all of the doors.......they were filthy....I feel much better now.  While this was going on TLE made a Costco run to pick up a few essentials that we only get at Costco.  There is a Costco in Carson City, which is about a 40 minute drive each way from SLT, but we won't have to make that run for a few weeks now.

After TLE returned, and I had eaten lunch I decided to go for one last ride before we leave to the top of Mt. Rubidoux.  The first time I did this ride on Saturday it took me just over an hour to ride the 10 miles......this time I was back home in 50 minutes.  I'm still out of shape.....at least out of shape by my standards, and have a lot of work to do to get where I want to be.  As soon as I get to SLT I'll start doing my 17 mile round trip ride up to Emerald Bay to get myself back into proper shape.

After I returned I put our bikes away, and finished organizing the trailer for VW insertion first thing Friday morning.  Thursday we'll make the 440 mile round trip drive to Los Algodones for our dental appointments, and then Friday morning we'll make the run to SLT over two days.  Our plan is to make it to Bishop, CA the first day, which is about 260 miles, and then the final 144 miles to SLT on Saturday.....that will be a tough driving day as there are 4 big passes between Bishop and SLT.

Nothing else of significance to report about Wednesday......thanks for stopping by!
