And so begins the 21st year of the 21st Century.......HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!๐Ÿงจ๐Ÿš

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! - 8:22 AM - Wednesday - January 1, 2020 - Ramona, CA - 42° F, 76% humidity, wind 3 mph out of the east......clear, cool, sunny, blue skies this morning with a forecast high today of 64° F......

....just put up our new 2020 calendar....and so it begins with the 2020 edition of the grand daddy of them all.....The Rose Parade.......

...I think I've seen all, or part of every single Rose Parade since the late 50's. When I lived in Pasadena, CA from 1962 to 1985 I saw it in person more times than I can remember.  It never gets old!

As I wrote yesterday, Tuesday, New Years Eve, was a short day with the office closing at 2 pm.  I started off with a list of three things to check from Rich......a leaky drain pipe under the sink in Cabin #64, a leaky bathroom faucet in Cabin #65, and some malfunctioning vertical blinds in Cabin #24.  The leaky drain pipe just needed to have the compression fitting tightened.  The leaky faucet  just needs replacing.....it's old and corroded. The malfunctioning vertical blinds have broken plastic parts, and just need replacing.  All of that took me about 20 minutes, and then it was on to opening the Red Barn, checking the horseshoe pits and the mini golf area, and then the pool.

All that took me to 10 am at which time I retrieved the handheld blower to blow leaves left over from our Santa Ana winds on Monday off the area around the office, and then off the mini golf holes, and finally off our site, and the adjoining sites.  On my way by the pond bench I reassembled Monday I took a picture for posterity's sake.....

.....after which I spent the rest of my short day preparing the boards from the second pond bench for painting.  I first vacuumed up all the dust/paint debris from Monday, and then sanded the boards, before putting the first coat of paint on them.  This took me up to 1:30 pm......just as I was wondering what I would do for the last 30 minutes a class 'A' motorhome pulled up to the propane station.....that was easy!  By the time I finished pumping 13.1 gallons into their 20 gallon propane tank it was time to close the office and call it a short day.

After work I took a shower, and then we headed into town where I would get my last haircut of 2019 at the local Supercuts followed by an early dinner at Rubio's Coastal Grill where we utilized a Rubio's gift card we received for Christmas from Marnie and Rich.

As we begin the 21st year of the 21st century we find ourselves coming to the end of our 8th year living on the road, and 9th year living full time in our 1982 Newell.  The last 9 years have been full of new places, new friends, and a new way of living for us.  All those years we spent living in sticks and bricks homes now seem like someone else's life.  Neither of us can imagine living in a home without wheels.  We look upon 2020 with much excitement and anticipation.  We will be visiting our 49th state, Alaska, in the Newell, and visiting places we have only dreamed and read about in the past.  We are both looking forward to a year without health issues, and looking forward to spending almost 6 months traveling with my brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Laureen Parker, as they take their first major trip with us in their newly acquired 1984 Newell Classic......
