Burial grounds......

7:33 am - Tuesday - October 20th - Seal Rock, OR - 46° F, 100% humidity, wind 7 mph out of the east......mostly cloudy today with a forecast high of 59° F.  On this date in 2017 we arrived at Ontario International after attending the wedding of our daughter to fly back to Montana so we could begin our drive south from Yellowstone to warmer climes......↴

Monday TLE and I decided to use our time before we reported for work at 2 pm more productively than Sunday.  She exercised, and I rode my Haibike SDURO to the top of NW Cross Street to see what was there.  It is just over 2 miles to the top, and I was surprised to find a cemetery there.........

......there was no sign indicating the name of the cemetery, and I don't even know is it is still in use.  It seems like the mostly unlikely spot for a cemetery I have ever come across......

.....just a little past the cemetery I found a view of the Pacific Ocean at around 600' elevation courtesy a power line right of way cut.....

At this point I had ridden 2.16 miles

.....I was gone for about 45 minutes, moving for just under 38 of those minutes, gaining 581' elevation from our site, covering 5.93 miles, and burning 327 caloric units......

......the new mud fenders I recently installed on the Haibike worked wonders, and I had zero mud on my back, or anywhere else for that matter.......

.....if you're going to ride in Oregon in the winter these fenders are an absolute must.  They also kept the bike from getting too dirty. I was able to wipe it down in just a few minutes.

By 2 pm we had reported for work.  Terry and Blake had been trimming hedges all day up to that point, and they were done for the day, so I picked up where they left off, and finished the hedge down by the highway, and then one more near site #1.  I finished my 2 hour shift by mowing a couple of sites, and then cleaning more site lights.....I am almost done with that task.  After dumping the hedge trimmings up at our burn pile near the bar I put away both golf carts, and headed for home a little after 4 pm.

We were treated to another amazing sunset as the sun slipped toward the western horizon......

.....the afterglow lasted for about 40 minutes......very unusual for our location.
