The 'eyes' have it......part 2

8:05 am - Friday - September 8th - LPG&RVR - 55° F, humidity 48%, wind 3 mph out of the south by southeast.....partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 81° F.  On this date in 2012 (our first year on the road) we were at Flaming Gorge, UT....↴

We began the first of four 'weekend' days sleeping until almost 7:30 am, and then remembered that TLE had her pre-surgical eye appointment in Alturas at 9 am, so we went from 'lazy gear' into 'let's get ready fast gear'.  We were about 5 minutes late for the appointment....we are never late.  While TLE kept her appointment I drove back a few blocks to the local Napa Auto Parts store to pick up a few auto related things, and was back at optometrist office about 15 minutes before TLE emerged from her eye exam.  She reported that her right eye is healing nicely, and she is approved for surgery on her left eye as soon as possible....yay!

From there we drove to Grocery Outlet to get a few things, and then over to Holiday Market to buy a few more food items.  After a quick stop at Rite Aid we were on our way home, arriving back at LPG&RVR around 11 am.

While TLE put away the grocery items I went out to the trailer to do my back exercises as I wanted to play 18 holes.  It's been a couple of weeks since I last played, and I wanted to get back out there before 'rust' began to show itself.  We headed over to the Clubhouse around 11:30 am where I hit a few balls with my driver, and satisfied that I could at least hit the driver, headed down to the first tee.  As it turned out I hit a good drive, then a good 5 wood to just off the green to the left, then chipped the ball to within 5 feet of the hole, and sank my putt for par.  I'm not sure if I've parred the first hole before, but there is always a first time.

Then came the second tee.  I addressed the ball confident that I was going to hit a good shot, and much to my dismay I shanked it badly to the right putting the ball in the tall brush.  I then it a second with a slightly better result, but it still sliced into the brush....ugh.  So far, two balls lost (we looked, but couldn't find them).  I hit a 3rd drive, and dribbled it up the fairway to the right (again).  By the time I finished the 2nd hole I was posting a '10' on my card.

After the 2nd hold debacle I determined to put it behind me on the third tee, and hit a nice 7 iron which hit the green, but rolled off the back.  I chipped to within 8 feet of the hole, and sank my putt for par.....nice recovery.

The rest of the day I lost no more balls, and managed a few more pars, and a bunch of bogeys.  As always, I finished strong on the final three holes, and am looking forward to another 18 holes on Friday.  TLE is great support as I play, and she putts on each of the 18 greens. We always have an nice time together playing golf!

While we were out on the course TLE got a phone call from Klamath Eye Center to set her surgical appointment, and we were able to get a September 12th date (7 am), so next Monday afternoon we'll drive to Klamath Falls, spend the night, get her left eye fixed, and then head back to LPG&RVR.

We were back at the coach around 4:15 pm, at which time I changed clothes and headed out to the 'viewing deck' to enjoy what was left of the afternoon.....

....when we were in town TLE bought a Coho Salmon filet for me to grill for dinner.  She marinated it in her famous cilantro/lemon sauce for a couple of hours, and by 6:15 pm we were sitting down to dine on the 'lower deck'......

....TLE went back inside after dinner as her allergies where making her eyes water, but I remained out side awaiting the setting of the sun to the west......

....the official sunset time here at LPG&RVR is 7:24 pm, however, the mountains to the west of of us cause it to set around 7:10 pm, and thus another day comes to an end at LPG&RVR!

Thanks for stopping by!
