Savannah Living

Savannah is an easy place to be, and Sunday was just a day to be.....no running around, no hunting for the next good brew.  I've been using some of the time we have been in Savannah to take care of some small maintenance stuff around our "home".  Sunday seemed like another of those days to stay close to "home" and spend some more time making sure our "home" is livable, and road worthy.

You will recall a few weeks ago I cleaned out the inside of the Sea-B-Que BBQ, and Sunday was the day to finish the job and polish the tarnish off the stainless steel exterior.....is it necessary for the function?  No.....but it makes me feel good to see it shine.  I didn't do it all at one time, but came back to it several times during the day until I was satisfied....in fact I finished the last part just before I lit her up to grill some burgers.

Another maintenance item was to check the air pressure in all the tires of my rolling stock.....the T-Bird, trailer and coach.....14 tires in all.  I have a small 12 volt compressor that clips on to the battery terminals of the coach I use for the T-Bird tires.  As it turned out each tire needed about 5 pounds.....it's probably been since before Campbellsville that I checked the air pressure on those tires, so not bad.

The 12 volt compressor

For the trailer and coach I use a "pancake" compressor with an "air doubler" attached.  The compressor generates around 110 psi, and the air doubler puts the output up over 200 psi.  Since the coach tires take 110 psi I need to generate a couple hundred psi to force air into the large 22.5 tires.

The trailer tires did not need any air added, and only the right front coach tire needed about 5 psi added.  I don't check the air pressure often.....I usually use an infrared temp gauge to check the temperatures of the coach and trailer tires when we take a rest stop.  I'm looking for a tire that is running hotter than the others, which is a sign that either the tire is under inflated, or the tread is starting to separate.  I do check the psi every couple of months just to be sure, but my system has worked well for the 5 years we have owned the coach.

Hard to believe March 1st was our 5 year anniversary owning our Newell.....it has been a sweet 5 years chock full of wonderful memories of people and places.  Our acquisition of The Newell was the first piece in our full time dream puzzle.

Another chore was to take all the carpet runners out of the coach, shake them out, then sweep out the interior.....takes 15 minutes....now that is one of the things I love about this lifestyle....cleanup takes very little time.

I took time to watch a couple of NCAA men's basketball games....both games came down to the last couple of minutes, which I love.....even if I don't have a "horse in the race" there is nothing better than a well played college game that goes down to the wire.

Before we knew it 6 pm had come and gone and it was time for me to grill some beef patties while TLE sauteed some bell peppers, onions, and jalapeno peppers to make a "bed" for the patties.  Dinner was just the final touch to a very nice day!

Well, here it is almost 10:30 on Monday morning and and I am still putting the final touches on Sunday's story....sometimes it is almost as much fun reliving the day just passed as it was living it the first time.

Thanks for stopping by!
