Holding pattern.....waiting to take off

I guess I have been blessed to have avoided this cold/flu thing for so many years, but this year it has caught up with me.  I got over this stuff almost 1 month ago to the day when it crept back into my life again.  This version has followed last month's version to the letter....starts with a scratchy throat, then congestion (head feels thick), then runny nose, then cough....all over 2, or 3 days....then a couple of days with a cough...then a couple more days of blowing my nose every 5 minutes.   I am now (Wednesday) beginning day 4.  I feel like I have been pulled through a knot hole backgrounds, and my mouth feels like the inside of an old trash can.  Thank goodness The Lovely Elaine is on the job nursing me back to health.

I spent all of Tuesday taking naps, and sitting in my recliner because I could not lay down without coughing.  We were invited over to our host's (Richard and Rhonda) home for dinner again last night at 7....Rhonda was the chef this evening, and made wonderful, delicious, scrumptious Lasagna.....a great comfort food for one who is not feeling good right now.  I perked up for a while, but by 9 pm I was out of gas again.  Tuesday night was a long night.....a lot of coughing.

I tried to go to bed, but couldn't lay down flat without coughing, so I sat in the recliner, again,  but still was coughing sporadically around 12 am.  TLE came to my rescue with some hot lemon/honey tea.  Gradually the cough subsided and I dropped off to sleep around 12:30, but woke up again coughing around 4.  I drank some more of the now cold lemon/honey drink left in my cup and that helped me get back to sleep for another hour.  Finally around 6 I went and lay down in my bed, and fell asleep without coughing, waking up for the final time around 8 am.

It looks like we'll be staying here in Huntington at least one more day as I am in no condition to be operating heavy equipment.

Thanks for stopping by!
