I had a great time visiting with Krash and Karen for two days, but Sunday it was time to move 30 miles to my sister's home in Chelsea. After 2 days of warmish, muggy weather Sunday was a pleasant surprise.....there was a chill in the air, and the humidity had dropped.
Around 11 am Krash drove me in his late model Ford Mustang over to the local O'Reilly's Auto Parts store to get some new windshield wipers for the T'Bird......I neglected to mention that they started making a lot of racket on the drive up from Indianapolis in the rain. This Mustang was custom ordered from Ford by Krash, and I wish I had taken a picture of it. It has the split blue racing stripe down the middle reminiscent of a late 60's Mustang Fastback. He has added some after market changes such as a Hurst manual transmission, etc. As my good friend Tom says...."it runs like a striped ape!" We were back home and had the new wipers installed by 11:40......since the day was so nice I dropped the top, said my "until next times" to Krash and Karen, then headed west on I-94 to my sister's home arriving just in time for lunch.
TLE and I were here for about 8 days last April, and really enjoyed our time with Jill and Elliott. There was a little excitement backing the coach (with trailer attached) out of our parking spot at the end of our stay. In case you have recently started following my blog, here is a link to a YouTube video my sister shot (I edited) of our extrication that morning just over a year ago....Backing Up. There will be no drama this year as I am here in the T'Bird only.
After lunch Jill and I took a long walk catching up on the last 14 months....couldn't ask for nicer weather! Up until about 16 months ago Jill and I hadn't talked for several years. The "why" is not really important anymore as we have put all that "stuff" behind us. We were both commenting on our walk that for the first time in decades all five of us siblings actually like each other at the same time. We've all walked different roads in life, but thankfully they have all lead back to family. My father used to say to me...."Clarke, it doesn't matter how you start out.....it only matters how you finish"....I think he would be proud of how we are "finishing" as a family.
We arrived back home around 4, and while Jill ran into town to do some grocery shopping I took a nap, awaking around 5:30 to the sounds of dinner preparation already well underway. Jill had picked up some Leininkugel Summer Shandy for me, so I sipped one as she finished dinner preparation. We had delicious stir fry for dinner on a bed of rice, and decadent brownies with vanilla ice cream, if you so chose....very yummy. A neighbor we had met last year, Maureen, joined us for desert.
It was great to see Jill's husband, Elliott, again......had a great time assisting him last year in his reassembly of a 1960's Honda S90 motorcycle......just exactly like the one I learned to ride on back in 1965. He still has a number of Honda motorcycles from that era he is restoring, and selling.
All in all it was a great first day......Monday we will drive into Ann Arbor with Maureen to browse through a few thrift/consignment shops and have lunch. Can't believe TLE will be back Tuesday evening....the time has flown by.
Thanks for stopping by!
