7:21 am - Friday - September 15 - 36º F, humidity 100%, wind 6 mph out of the north northwest......heavy cloud cover....rained all night long....wonderful to hear it on the aluminum roof!  Forecast high for Gardiner, MT today is 41º F, and for Mammoth Hot Springs, WY it is 39º F.....whoa......that is over 20º lower than yesterday!  Snow is likely at Mammoth Hot Springs today!

It is as if 'someone' decided to flip the weather switch yesterday....we went from sunny 70's and 80's temps to winter like conditions overnight.  I've been watching the forecasts for the last two weeks and saw this coming, but still I was skeptical......not anymore.  I was also beginning to wonder if the smoke haze would ever be gone......I am not wondering anymore.

We were at work by 9:15 am ('MID1' shift) after an uneventful drive up the Gardiner River Gorge......the entire village felt like a ghost town, and the General Store was empty except for our co-workers.  It didn't stay empty all day long, but it never really got busy either.  For a long time A.J. and I ran the fountain......sales for much of the morning consisted of coffee, hot chocolate and the occasional pretzel......

A.J. and I have got things under control!

.......beginning the day we had all the doors open, but not the windows.....it was cold outside.  Usually we have everything open and all the fans running.  Eventually, over the course of the day, we began closing the doors as the temperature was dropping quickly, and around 4 pm it began raining.......

Sandy and TLE are not very busy

......as my friend Roscoe would say....."Winding it down".....the summer season has fled like a rabbit being chased by a fox.  It looks as if there will be no Fall weather.  Reminds me of a saying I heard years ago about the seasons in North Dakota.......'there are two season in North Dakota....July and winter'......well, here in southern Montana we had July and August, and now it seems winter is upon us.

We were home by 5:50 pm.....the rain continued to fall throughout the evening, and all night long....we were in bed by 10 pm listening to the rain on the roof.

Thanks for stopping by!
