First of four.....

7:51 am - Saturday - August 2nd - LPG&RVR - 60° F, humidity 31%, wind 1 mph out of the east by southeast....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 86° F.  On this date in 2012 TLE and I were having lunch at the U Street Pub and Eatery....

.....in Seaside, OR.

We had the choice of either doing our weekly grocery shopping on Friday, or Monday, because we don't like shopping in Alturas on the weekend as it is too crowded in the markets. Okay, I know 'crowded' is a relative term, but on weekday mornings the grocery stores are virtually empty, so we can do all our shopping in less than an hour, and can always find a parking spot in the shade.  Grocery shopping has never been one of my favorite past times, and that is probably because I could never find anything.  TLE always did the shopping during our workaday lives, and I think it was my basic lack of knowledge about where to find ANYTHING in a grocery store that kept me at arms length from grocery stores most of my life.  Since we've retired, and I have begun doing the shopping each week with TLE, I have learned how stores are basically laid out (from TLE), and now I can find things pretty quickly, and most of the time without having to ask any store personnel for help. With all that being said, we decided on Friday, so around 1o am we headed for Alturas.

Our first stop was at ACE Hardware to buy some padded 'foot pads' for my computer desk chair, then over to Full Throttle Engine Repair to drop off our 16" Stihl chain saw to be serviced.  From there we stopped briefly at Dollar General to get a few things, then on to Holiday Market to do our main shopping before heading back to LPG&RVR, arriving there around noon time.

Once everything was put away we headed over to the Clubhouse to pickup my golf clubs for my 1 pm tee time.  I haven't played golf for at least two weeks, maybe more, but I managed a bogey on hole #1, then a double bogey on the 2nd, but then righted the ship and parred #3.  I hid a bad tee shot on #4, but a good #3 fairway wood, and was just off the green in 3 (#4 is a par 5). I managed to get a bogey.

Then came the #5 par 3 hole where I once again bogeyed.  By the time I arrived at the #6 long par 5 hole I had not really hit a great drive, but managed to hit this one long and straight, and was over the creek in two shots for the first time in a long time.  My third shot, a #3 fairway wood, landed just short of the green, and after a so so chip two putted for bogey.  I've only bogeyed #6 once before....usually it is a double, or triple bogey.

I hit wonderful tee shots on 7 and 8....both long and straight down the middle of the fairway, and hit a decent drive on #9, pulled my second shot to the left of the green, then made a bad chip that went way past the hole.  I ended up with a double bogey.....

Too bad it was an ugly day....lol!

Teeing off at the 8th tee....hit it long and straight

.....nine holes was enough for me Friday, but I'll go back out Saturday and Sunday for sure.  Overall my game was so so, but I was encouraged by the last four holes.  I've just got to work on my mid iron game.

By the time I put my clubs and golf shoes back in the locker it was getting close to 3:30 pm, so we headed for the cool interior of our Newell to shower, and relax.  Friday was a beautiful day, as you can see from the pictures.  The air clarity was remarkable, and the fairways as green as I have seen them in August.  All of those thunder showers we've had lately have really greened up the course!

Thanks for stopping by!
