'Mellow Yellow'

Day 5 on the Rincon began with blustery winds, but the skies were clear.....once again we were pounding amps into our house batteries by 0720.....and before noon time we were back at 100%.....love it!!!  Even with the sun out in full force the wind made it feel quite chilly until almost 1000......by that time my brother and sister-in-law were getting ready to head for home and their workaday lives once again.  They were on their way by 1100 hours, and within 60 minutes the winds had stopped.....at least for a little while.  So, now we are once again by ourselves with 5 more days of Rincon living in front of us.

TLE helped me redeploy the patio awning, and I brought out the patio furniture from the trailer once again.....order is restored, and paradise returned.  Once that was done it was time to tackle the project of removing the old shore power cord, and installing the new one we received from Amazon Prime.  The electrical bay is on the driver's side of the coach, and based on our current orientation (front of the coach facing east) that means it is in the shade.....perfect!

From beginning to end the project took just under 2 hours, and there were no "do overs" this day.......I just took my time while double and triple checking each step in the process.  Finally it was time to check my work, so I plugged the new shore power cord into the female 50 amp outlet in the electrical bay which provides power from either the generator, or the inverter.....in this case the inverter.  I went inside and flipped the inverter switch, and it worked!  In fact, now that the bad cord, which had to be increasing the 'resistance', was replaced, I was getting 120 volts from each leg once again.....it had been hovering around 116-118 volts for a few weeks which was kind of mystifying me until I found the melted connections at Mono Lake.

Once that project was done, and everything all buttoned up TLE and I took a long walk south down the beach......

.....as we walked I began to notice that as the waves were breaking that there was a lot of spray indicating we were beginning to get an offshore wind......sure enough, by 1630 the wind out of the east was picking up.....

Evidence of the increasing offshore wind

......we were determined to have a sunset fire in spite of the offshore wind, so we moved the portable fire place to the right rear portion of our site where it was shielded, somewhat, from the wind by the coach and the seawall, and enjoyed our 5th sunset on the Rincon......

 5th Rincon Sunset

By about 1830 the wind had picked up enough that we had to stow the awning once again.....drat!  We hoped the wind would abate, but it became apparent after about 30 minutes it would continue on for some time, so we had no choice but to due the prudent thing and stow the awning.  Within 90  minutes the wind did begin to abate, and as I write this morning it is totally "Mellow Yellow" on the Rincon once again.

I watched the MNF game between the Houston Texans and the Cincinnati Bengals.....the Bengals came into this game undefeated, but lost a hard fought defensive contest 10-6 to the Texans, who were due for some good news.

Thanks for stopping by!
