Sports Final

First of all the above picture perfectly illustrates what I love about US 395......the big, long, horizon to horizon, crystal clear views.  For some these big views make them feel small, uneasy, and insignificant.  For us it just calms us, puts a smile on our faces, and implores us think about the things that are really important.  There are no traffic jams, hoards of people running here and there, smog, tightly packed neighborhoods......just wide open spaces full of clean air and grand views.  You can watch the sun rise over the eastern horizon, and set over the western horizon while being stationary with no human structures obstructing either.  It is a time to recharge your mental and emotional batteries, as well as your flooded cell house batteries.  It is a time to slow down and enjoy the journey, which is exactly what we are doing.

During the last 10 years of my 'workaday' life I rarely got to watch any sports on the weekend, especially college and professional football.  Most every weekend during the fall and winter I was wearing my professional soccer referee hat.....I loved what I was doing at the time, but for every choice we make there is usually something we give up......now that we have become endlessly roaming vagabonds I can watch football every weekend no matter where I am.  I know that may seem odd to some who think I should be out exploring every single day.....who think watching sports is a waste of time.  That's fine....it's okay....go ahead and think that.....it makes me happy, so that is what I do......I will still love you anyway.....:-)

Sunday saw me doing exactly that.....starting at 0630 I watched the game between the Detroit Lions and the Kansas City Chiefs in London, England and finished around 2030 when the Denver Broncos finished off the Green Bay Packers in convincing fashion holding Aaron Rogers to 77 passing yards.  Thrown into the mix was some channel flipping to watch snippets of game 5 of the World Series which saw Kansas City win 7-2  over New York in extra innings to win their second world championship.

During all of that I took time, as I am want to do, to watch another amazing Riley, OR sunset that lasted so long and took so many forms it felt like a week worth of sunsets in one evening.......

........it continued to evolve for close to 30 minutes......and, finally, just as the sun was setting the wind that continued unabated for almost 48 hours suddenly stopped as if someone had flipped a switch.  Time to roll those 22.5" wheels once again!

Thanks for stopping by!
