8:16 am - Wednesday - November 22nd - Grand Canyon - 45º F, humidity 41%, wind 2 mph out of the south by southeast.....clear blue skies.....forecast high 65º F.

Today's initial missive will be brief.....I was supposed to be off work today, but just got a knock on the door that I am needed at the store.  I slept in because I thought I didn't have to work today.  I will have to finish the blog this afternoon.

See you then!

We woke up Wednesday around 7:50 am thinking we were going to drive into Flagstaff, AZ for the day to do some shopping and have lunch, but the aforementioned knock at the door around 8:15 am snatched that plan right out of the thin Grand Canyon air.  I had just barely gotten up, poured a cup of coffee and sat down to compose  my daily blog entry.  I told Scott (the messenger) what I just wrote, and that I would be in around 9 am.  Anyway, here is the missing blog entry about Tuesday.

I'm pretty good at remembering what happened yesterday, but my memory begins to fade quickly when it comes to what happened two days ago, especially if that day was uneventful.  I've written often about how sometimes that is the best you can hope for out of a day.....it was uneventful.  TLE and I swapped shifts.....she had the 'open' shift and was on her way to work by 7:20 am.  I had just gotten up around 7 am, but knew I had 5 hours until my 'close' shift began so I took my time composing the blog entry about Monday, had a small breakfast, made the bed, laid out the clothes I planned to wear to work.....it's the same every workday......khaki pants, black GC t-shirt, black socks and my Keen hiking shoes.

I needed to dump the tank and by 8:30 it was surprisingly warm enough to go outside in my pajamas.......no jacket, gloves or watch cap......and do just that.  While I was waiting for the black tank to fill up with clean water I finally hung our two wind chimes from the sideview mirrors of the Newell, then put on the mirror and windshield wiper covers.....can't believe it took me two weeks to do that.  The black tank dumping and flushing was done in short order so I went back inside to read for a while.

Finally around 10 am I changed into my exercise clothes and went out to the trailer to do my daily workout......30 minutes of spinning on the bicycle trainer, situps, pushups, and back exercises.  I used to get a small amount of lower back pain when I would stand for hours at a time, but as long as I keep those muscles in tone the back pain goes away.  I hadn't done them for a few weeks, and by the time we arrived here at the GC I was beginning to suffer a little bit again, so after 7 days of doing them consistently the soreness has disappeared once again.

I was on my way walking over to the General Store by 11:45 am, and arrived 10 minutes later, clocked in, counted in my cash drawer, and said goodbye to TLE.  The afternoon was VERY busy.......by the time we closed the doors at 5 pm I had done over $1,000 in just cash sales in just 5 hours.....that's a record for me.

I was home by 5:40 pm, and within an hour TLE and I were watching the final episode of 'Mad Men' on Netflix.....we pretty much blew through our 45 gigabytes of Hotspot streaming this month just watching 'Mad Men', but it was worth it.  We were both a little disappointed in how the writers wrapped up this 7 season series, but overall we thoroughly enjoyed the odyssey.

Thanks for stopping by!
