5:40 am - Thursday - November 23rd - Grand Canyon - 42º F, humidity 40%, wind 1 mph out of the south by southwest.....mostly sunny today with a forecast high of 67º F!!  It will be a nice Thanksgiving.

The thing about life my Dad taught me was that when plans change you just 'roll with the punches' and keep moving forward.  No point in wasting energy thinking about the disappointment.....just move forward and embrace the change, and that is what we both did Wednesday.  I was at work just before 9 am knowing I would be off by 12:30.....TLE would get her full shift in (12 pm to 5:30 pm).  Thankfully the day began slowly and remained slow until TLE arrived when there was a brief flurry of customers.....I agreed to remain until 1:30 pm to help her over the mini rush (what have I got do anyway, right?).  While I was at work TLE had driven over to the Marketplace at South Rim to do the shopping we had planned to do in Flagstaff.....she was able to get most of what she needed for Thanksgiving dinner.

By 1:30 pm I was out the front door and walking down to the Watchtower vista point to take a few pictures......to me it looks different every time I walk down there.....Wednesday was a very clear, bright blue sky kind of day......

......and miles of the Colorado River snaking its way westward could be seen as the sun lit it up like a bright blue ribbon......I finished my walk home by 2 pm, changed my clothes and went out to do my 8th consecutive workout.  When I workout consistently most of the aches and pains I associate with being 68 years old disappear, and my quality of sleep is significantly improved.

After finishing my workout I spent some time replacing the connectors on a few lengths of RG-6 cable which had gone bad over the years.  I keep about 200 feet of RG-6 cable on hand in case I need to use our Winegard Carryout satellite dish to get around some obstacle blocking the southern sky.  I haven't had to use it for a while, but figured I should spend the time now, when it was convenient, fixing a few of those connectors I knew were deteriorating.

By the time I finished with that the sun was dipping below the western horizon once again, and decided it was time for our first fire.......

.....we still had one bundle of firewood leftover from our week stay at Lone Rock, and I had gathered some old pieces of discarded wood left over from construction years before.  I sent a text to TLE to buy a couple more bundles of wood to which she replied in the affirmative.  I sat by the fire smoking a cigar and sipping some single malt awaiting TLE's arrival from work.......

......she arrived home shortly after 5:30 and we sat out side for about 40 more minutes before she headed inside to get dinner ready. I stayed outside grilling come pollo asado for tacos.  While I ate my tacos TLE then got to work on Thanksgiving fixin's....she's got quite a dinner planned for us Thursday!

......I chased the four pollo asado tacos with a 'Campfire Stout' by Highwater Brewing Company out of San Jose.  I'm not sure how long I've had the 22 ouncer, but it was the perfect pairing for Taco Wednesday!

We watched a few recorded shows and were in bed by 10:30.....we both work abbreviated schedules on Thanksgiving.....me 7:30 am to 11 am, and TLE 10:30 am to 3 pm.....Wednesday was a nice day after all!

Thanks for stopping by!
