Post mortem......

7:31 am - Tuesday - 38º F, humidity 68%, wind - CALM - clear skies in South Lake Tahoe....forecast high is 78º F.....I'm not feeling particularly expansive this morning.  It has been an emotional roller coaster these past few days, so please bear with me.

We were up early Monday morning in anticipation of our departure from SB, and the 5-6 hour drive back to TVC.....we hoped to arrive back at TVC by 3 pm so we were out of SB by 8:45 am headed north and west first on SR-25, then SR-152, then SR-156, and finally SR-33 where we connected with I-5 northbound.

Our intermediate destination was a smog check place in Stockton, CA where we arrived just after 11 am to get our VW 'smogged' for another year.  Our registration renews in early July and we are not able to get it 'smogged' in South Lake Tahoe.  There was a long line, but we were in and out with a 'PASS' in 50 minutes and back on the freeway by noon.

Around 1:20 we stopped off in Placerville at the In 'N Out Burger place for a late lunch, then a quick stop at the ARCO fuel station to top off our tank for the final 70 miles into SLT.  We crested Echo Summit at just over 7,300' around 2:50 pm, and were pulling into site 426 by 3:10 pm.

At the top of Echo Summit catching our first view of Lake Tahoe in 5 days

Returning after 5 days seemed surreal in some respects.....so much has changed in those 5 short days.  We spent the evening talking with our neighbors, and then with another camper who is also leaving to work the balance of the summer in Yellowstone National Park.  We are very interested in his past experience there and picked his brain for a couple of hours.  Who knows......if we don't get approved for a transfer into SB, maybe we'll pursue a job in Yellowstone.  You just never know where the twists and turns of life will take you next!
