7:04 am - Friday - November 10th - Grand Canyon - 36º F, humidity 59%, wind 4 mph out of the west by southwest......forecast high for today is 63º F with partly cloudy skies....good morning from the Grand Canyon.......

Our Thursday workday began at 10 am, and we got right into the work of the day.....taking inventory.  That means seemingly endless counting of every item not yet put out for sale in the store.....every Baby Ruth candy bar, refrigerator magnet, bottle of beer, t-shirt, scarf, souvenir key chain.....well, you get the picture, right?  In order to reduce the number of things we had to count we first filled up all the empty spots in the shelving throughout the store, and set about counting in the back room.

There is no cell service inside the store for whatever reason, and it is spotty outside, so we just put our cell phones on 'Airplane Mode' during the day so the batteries don't wear down trying to find non-existent cell service.  Back at our RV site the service is excellent....2-3 bars of LTE all the time, but just 1/2 mile away at the store it is difficult to get 1-2 bars of 3G......and that tiny spot is about 50 feet from the entrance to the store near a trash can.....if I stand very still and hold my phone still then I can get emails, texts, and social media.

There is nothing else to report about Thursday except that we are enjoying our work environment, and fellow employees.  There is always a learning curve on any new job which involves remembering everyone's name.....there is Wayne, Dakota, Scott, Cathy, Sherry, Peggy, Kevin, Jonathon, Michael, Ashley, and Ian so far.  Ian is our cashier supervisor, then Wayne is over him as Assistant Manager, and then Dakota is the General Manager of all the Desert View facilities (Chevron station, Trading Post, General Store).  We've got three more days of inventory which may, or may not include some overtime Sunday night......it all has to be done by Monday morning when the auditors arrive.

The weather has been pretty moderate here at 7,400' elevation so far.....the overnight lows are in the low to mid 30's.....not too bad, but I know it will get steadily colder, and there will be snow at some point.....that will be interesting....especially when it doesn't melt the next day.

We made our 1/2 mile walk home at 5 pm.....I lit the Sea-B-Que to grill some carne asada for tacos.......TLE did the rest.....we were in bed by 11 pm.....and that was our Thursday.

Thanks for stopping by!
