6:25 am - Sunday - December 15th - TWW - 31° F, humidity 60%, wind 5 mph out of the southeast.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 55° F. On this date in 2021 TLE and I were enjoying another beautiful Anza Borrego Desert sunset fire.....
With the cement pad for the new solar array completed, and drying TLE and I decided to spend time on behalf of Phyllis to begin removing stuff from the storage bays of the sister Newell. When Steve took us on a tour of all the storage bays I could see there was a lot of stuff in there Phyllis would not need, so TLE and I moved one of the large folding tables over to the driver side of the coach to begin the process. Over a couple of hours we completely filled the table with stuff from the drivers side. We didn't begin the process until 10 am as it was just too cold before then to be outside, so by the time we finished removing stuff, and then vacuuming out each bay it was getting close to 1 pm.....
We began to take inventory of the stuff on the table, and about 70% of it will go back into one storage bay, or another, and the rest into the CONEX, or garage to be used at a later date
Water bay
Through bay....I'm jealous of this one....it is twice as wide as ours!
Electrical bay
....we'll get around to the passenger side storage bays next week. Thankfully, they are not as cluttered, and it will take less time to clean them.
After taking a snack break around 1:30 pm I turned my attention, with TLE's assistance, to trying to fix the latch on the water bay. You will recall I spent time on this issue a few weeks ago, and after a few hours of unsuccessful efforts I deferred any additional work on it until a later date, and that date was Saturday....
....the problem is the latch would not close all the way preventing the bay from being locked. I had been focusing on the actual latch thinking it was the issue, however, I was wrong. TLE asked me about the two long rods which you can see in the picture below. When the latch is turned they two rods move outward and into holes on each side....these long rods are only found on the large water bay, and through bay doors, as they are so wide. At any rate I explained what they do, and she suggested they might be the problem, and not the latch. What do you know? She was right. There is supposed to be a hole on each side of the door jam into which those rods slide when closing the latch, and there were NO holes....doh! At any rate, I drilled the necessary holes, and now the latch works as it should....TLE always has a way of seeing things from a different angle/perspective, and I so value that perspective. She has helped solve problems in this way many times over the years.....
.....now the latch closes completely, and the water bay can now be locked, and secured....
.....once we had solved that issue TLE headed inside to begin preparing dinner, which consisted of another delicious, toasted meatloaf sandwich. I was able to catch the last quarter of the annual Army-Navy football game in which the underdog, Navy, won handily over ranked Army (#22 nationally)....love those upsets!
We had another interesting sunset, but no sunset fire. The temps begin to drop quickly after 3 pm as we edge ever closer to the winter Equinox on December 21st. Right now sunrise is at 7:40 am, and sunset is 5:20 pm....we're getting less than 10 hours of daylight now.....
....we haven't watched any Hallmark Christmas movies yet this season, so that is what we did Saturday night....a nice way to end another successful day at TWW.
Thanks for stopping by!
