7:57 am - Thursday - December 5th - TWW - 38° F, humidity 47%, wind 8 mph out of the east.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 62° F. On this date in 2020 TLE and I were taking a walk on Seal Rock Beach, OR.....
By Wednesday morning our laundry hamper was as full as it has been in some time, and we also needed to resupply our generator fuel supply so we headed into Seligman around 10 am, however, our first stop was at the Post Office to pick up our first package, and our first junk mail...lol. We've only had the box 2 weeks, and we're already getting junk mail. Next stop was the laundromat where it took three washers to hold all of our less than clean laundry. Once the washers were secured, and filled with the required amount of quarters, we headed next door to the grocery store to buy some produce, and other items. This is our first time shopping there, although we did do a little reconnaissance a few weeks ago, so we had a general idea of what they had, which is not much, but the Family Dollar store has NO produce, or meat, which the grocery store does.
From there we drove over to the Family Dollar store to get a few more things, then back to the laundromat to check on our wash, which was not done, but there were also no dryers available yet, so TLE suggested I run over to the hardware store to buy a few things I needed, some of which included parts to vent the exhaust from our Honda EU2000i generator out of the shed when we finally move it in there. I was happy to find just what I needed in the electrical aisle....a 1" inner diameter coupling, and a 1" outer diameter 'L' shaped conduit piece. I was pretty sure my idea would work. Next up I headed across the street to the Chevron station to fill our 3 five gallon gas cans.
By the time I returned to the laundromat the clothes were almost dry, so we began folding those that were dry, and were back in the Expedition heading home around 12 pm. I don't think I mentioned that when we were returning from hauling water Monday the county road grader was being employed to smooth out our washboardy road. Wednesday was the first time we had a chance to drive it since the road grader work, and is it ever nice again. Of course, within 2 weeks it will be terrible again, but its the small things in life that matter, right? It's all good right now.
Charles and Phyllis were coming back to TWW Wednesday, and arrived just before we returned from our town run. I spent the rest of the afternoon using the parts I had purchased at the hardware store to fabricate an exhaust pipe for the Honda, and it turned out quite nicely....
.....I was able to screw one of the threaded ends of the coupling into the plastic shroud around the exhaust, then connect the 'L' conduit piece through the 1" hole I had drilled in the back wall of the shed with a 1" hole saw I've had for years.....
....that, all by itself, would have made the whole evening quite special, but I'm sure the roasted marshmallows we roasted contributed somewhat, too.
