Hitch Itch

There is this delicate tension in a nomad's mind that begins to become evident when said nomad has been in one place for several weeks.  It doesn't matter that you are thoroughly enjoying being where you are......that you are enjoying the folks you are spending a lot of time with.....it doesn't matter, because eventually those nomadic instincts begin to kick in again, and you begin to think about places you haven't seen yet.  You begin to seek out advice on where to stay in this place you have not been to before......you begin looking up those places on the internet and find yourself looking at the pictures of those places with longing.  It will soon be time to say our "until next times" to our good friends, and look forward to our next time together.  There have been many shared dinners, and impromptu offroading experiences.....we have come to love and appreciate the Wittmann area, especially lower temperatures than are found down south of Phoenix.

Thursday, I spent the morning draining any water that had gathered in the forward air tanks, and then draining the oil out of the slobber tube canister.  Only one task now left on my list......fix a couple of small tears in the ZipDee awning fabric on the patio awning.....that will happen Friday.  Of course, all the while the aforementioned tasks were being completed I had NCAA basketball playing in the background.....Thursday was the first big day with games starting at 9 am and the last finishing a little after 10 pm.....Friday will be more of the same.  The tournament begins with 64 teams, and gradually over two weeks, or so that number is whittled down to the "Sweet Sixteen", the "Elite Eight", the "Final Four" and then the "Final".

Around 2 pm we got in the VW and headed south to Scottsdale, AZ and the Casino Arizona for an RVillage meetup.  It has been just over a week since this new social media website was officially launched and there are already over 3,000 members.  We are very excited about this early success and believe it will continue.  16 people sent in RSVP's to attend and I believe just about that many showed up.

On our way down we stopped at the only TJ's (Trader Joe's) that sells hard liquor in this area to stock up on some blended Scotch Whiskey, and Single Malt Scotch they sell under their label......at about 1/3 the cost they are an exceptional value.

We arrived at Casino Arizona  just after 4 pm to find the "meetup" in progress.  Curtis, the organizer of this "meetup" and a co-founder of RVillage was talking about the history, and development of the RVillage concept, and taking questions.  Of course, the whole point of the meetup was to meet new people and renew friendships.  We first met Sam and Tracy in Cedar Key on New Year's Eve, December 31st, 2012, and spent time with them again up in St. Augustine, FL about 6 weeks later.  We both were looking forward to seeing them again, and catching up.

Additionally we were privileged to meet Ed & Tanna, Dave, Rich and Jodi, Mark and Susie, and Michael and Ellen......all delightful people, and to say there was an immediate connection is an understatement.  We sat talking until almost 8 pm about "people, places and things", but mostly about this nomadic lifestyle.  Compared to many at this gathering we are still babes in the woods as far as longevity on the road, and many of these folks still work while changing their views on a regular basis.

The drive "home" was much easier than going, but still took a little over an hour with us arriving there just before 9 pm.  Another 4th Saturday lived well!

Thanks for stopping by!
