"R" Village

"Why don't you take a day off?" I asked myself.......myself answered "Sure, why not?".....so on 5th Saturday (aka Friday) "myself" took a day off from Newell projects.  Of course, I can almost hear your thoughts on this subject...."What?  He hardly works now as it is!"......"He's taking a day off......he says everyday feels like Saturday....what's he taking a day off from?".  Well, all that is true, but I want the spread all the fun projects out over time....no point in getting them all done in one week.

A couple of months ago we were invited by our good friends Chris and Cherie of Technomadia fame to help "beta test" a new social media site designed specifically for RV'ers whether they be full time nomads, part time nomads, or aspiring nomads.  A few days ago it went live, and in just a couple of days the membership is tilting toward 2,000 already.  The name of the new site is: RVillage.....check it out!  A great article about this new social media site is found at the site run by our friends Howard and Linda at RV Dreams Journal.  Boiled down to its essentials the site helps connect like minded RV'ers as they travel to and fro, hither and yon.  If you are staying in a particular RV park, or region you can find out easily who is near you and meet up with friends, or make new friends.  There are groups to join, if you wish; announcements of "meetups" around the country, etc.  We are very excited about this new site, and hope you will take time to explore the site and see if it is for you.

Around 9:30 Tom and I got in his Ford F350 4X4 truck to drive into Surprise and pickup up some trim for his new house that he had ordered a while ago.  On our way in we were scheduled to meet up with the owner of the construction company (Gorilla Builders) Tom has retained to build his "barn" to give Jeff, the owner, a check for the next phase of the construction, then on to the "door and trim" place to pick up the interior trim for Tom and Darlene's new home.

Before I go on I just want to say that meeting Tom and Darlene 6 years ago has been one of the blessings in our lives both TLE and I cherish.  I'm sure everyone who goes through life has what they would characterize as a few really good friends.  We all have friends, but really good, close friends with whom you can share almost anything are rare.  Tom and Darlene are in that category with us.  We were brought together by our separate decisions to buy Newell coaches, but over time our relationship has gone beyond our Newell coaches developing into a very close friendship.  Their "proverbial door" is always open to us, and we always look forward to spending time with them as we are now.  Surprisingly, our experience with the numerous Newell owners we have met over the past six years is very similar.  We have become good friends with Richard and Rhonda (West Virginia), Forest and Cindy (Louisiana), Michael and Georgia (Texas), Pam and Jeff (Oklahoma), Todd and Dawn (South Dakota), Matt and Connie (Louisiana), David and Denise (Colorado)....all of whom I have written about over the past two years.  These all are good friends who would give you "the shirt off their backs" without condition, or hesitation.

I would say that since we began our full time nomadic journey just over 2 years ago we have made a lot of new, good friends.......Chris and Cherie (Technomadia) being foremost amongst them, and through them we have been introduced to  a whole new diverse community of like minded nomads from all walks of life.....many of whom can be found at the new RVillage site.  When you travel full time it is important that you have a sense of community which will provide the necessary equilibrium you need in this lifestyle as it is easy to develop a sense of isolation.......a lack of feeling connected, and that is probably why many do not make it.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming.......after Tom and I returned I spent the better part of the afternoon watching college basketball.....yep, we are quickly approaching one of my favorite times of the year....."March Madness".....the big NCAA tournament will be starting next week, after the various conferences have finished their end of season championship tourneys.

Around 5:30 Tom and I headed over to Wells Country Store to pick up a couple of pizzas we had ordered over the phone, and then, along with TLE, sat outside under the ramada eating, laughing, and watching another Wittmann sunset on "5th Saturday".

Thanks for stopping by!
