No rain today
First things first, though. Since Rich and Marnie were off work Tuesday I needed to check the water tower to see if it needed filling, then open up the storage yard, the Clubhouse, and the pool before finding something to do for the day. As I headed up the hill I passed Rich and Marnie heading down to the office. He started talking about what I would be doing since it was raining and then suggested I spend time in the tool shed organizing things better......perfect....just what I wanted to do! And so that is what I did for the rest of the day (with a 30 minute lunch break, of course).
The work bench was covered with tools, washers, nuts, bolts, screws of the wood and sheet metal variety, and a little trash. There is 'pegboard' on the wall above the workbench where some tools where hung, but it was all disorganized, and in many cases you had to move one tool out of the way to get at another. My first task was to redo that, and see if I could get more of the hand tools laying on the workbench onto the peg board. It took about 90 minutes, but pretty soon I had rearranged the tools on the pegboard and was able to get 95% of the tools off the workbench. Once that was done it was just a matter of separating out all of the fasteners into various categories, then putting them away in a wall hung screw organizer.
I then turned my attention to the opposite side of the room where the garden tools where are stored (shovels, rakes, pick axes, pry bars, brooms, etc.). They were all standing on the floor leaning against the wall in no particular order, and it was quite difficult to tell what was what, or what we had. First off I began to hang as many of them on the wall as I could, and then organized the remaining ones by type.....all the square point shovels together, the regular shovels together, the brooms, etc. Initially I only thought we had one square point shovel, but we had 4. I thought we only had one push broom, but we actually had 3, and on it went. The final thing to do was to vacuum the top of the workbench, and then the floor, and by the time I finished with that it was almost 4 pm and time to put another workday into the books.
The days seem to pass by pretty quickly here at RORVR*, and on Thursday we will have been here 2 weeks already. We're both settling into our jobs, and enjoying the people we work with each day. We appreciate our managers, Rich and Marnie, and they seem to appreciate us and the job we are doing. I personally love the variety of things I get to do here....no two days are exactly alike. Last summer most of each workday was proscribed by specific, repetitive tasks.....restock the wood box, clean sites, pick up and deliver trash to the transfer station, clean the bathrooms between 12 and 2 pm. The only time I had in which to do anything different was after 3 pm each day, and even that was not really different. The only difference each day was the location in the campground in which I was doing weed abatement with the Stihl string trimmer.
We spent the evening (after closing the pool, Clubhouse and storage yard) watching recorded TV programs, and were in bed a little after 10 pm.....thanks for stopping by!
