Mainers......

7:40 am - Tuesday - June 19th - Southwest Harbor, ME - 65º F, 82% humidity, wind 10 mph out of the northwest.....clear blue skies with a forecast high of 75º F.  Rained most of the night....always great when the needed rain comes at night and does not interfere with your planned daytime activities.

You can just see the Newell up the hill from the office

If you don't like the weather in northeast Maine just wait a few hours....I am sure you will eventually get what you want.  The temperature fluctuations from day to day are eye opening, but the temperature variations between the high and low for each day are usually no more than 5-7 degrees.  I am getting used to the cooler overall temperatures, and when it drizzles am no longer running to get my rain jacket.....maybe I am becoming a 'Mainer'?  These 'Mainers' think nothing of beginning a hike, bike ride, or kayak trip in the rain.  They really don't care about being rained upon, and rarely wear rain gear unless the downpour is torrential.  If you happen to get wet you'll dry out.....eventually.....😊  It is just part of the life style here in northeastern Maine.

We were pretty much on our own Monday......Todd had a big dental appointment and Rain, his wife was under the weather.  We had plenty to do with our normal assignments and just went from one thing to another all day long.  It was sprinkling when we first arrived at the office to begin our work day so Tony and I headed up to the garage to assemble the third and final Charbroil BBQ unit from the current shipment.  That took us until about 9:30 am at which time we transitioned to our garbage collector roles, and then off to the transfer station for our daily deposit.  By the time we returned it was after 10:30 and only 30 minutes until lunch.  We found a few things to do to fill up the time and were off to lunch at 11 am.

Once again it was back to cleaning the restrooms at 12 pm.....here you can see Tony rinsing the soap off the floor and other fixtures on the women's side......

......we were finished just before 2 pm which is when Tony heads for home.  I still had two more hours before my time came, so I headed up to the 'garage' in one of the golf carts to pick up our small trailer, a lawnmower, and my favorite Stihl string trimmer.....time to trim some grass in the tent sites.  I was able to get the grass cut and trimmed in about 90% of the tent sites before 4 pm came around once again....time to punch the clock!

The weather forecast indicated it should begin to rain about 5 pm, but it did not.  I watched a couple of recorded World Cup matches and then returned to work at 7 pm to close the pool and patrol the campground until TLE closed the office at 8 pm......

.....by 8 pm the skies looked much more threatening, but still no moisture.  TLE and I headed for home and settled in to watch some more recorded World Cup matches.  We finished the evening watching the England vs. Tunisia match.  It began as a very one sided affair in favor of England, but by half time it was tied 1-1.  The score could easily have been 3, or 4-1 in favor of England.   The score remained tied until 1 minute into the 4 minute stoppage time when Harry Kane (England) managed to head a corner kick into the goal for a 2-1 advantage, and his second goal of the match.......that is how the match ended.

Within minutes of the end of the England match it began to rain, and it rained the rest of the night.....thanks for stopping by!
