6:52 pm (PST) - Thursday - November 7th - Cabazon, CA - 58° F, humidity 14%, wind 7 mph out of the southwest.....night time...high today was 65° F. On this date in 2019 I was finishing the final sections of split rail fencing at Ramona Oaks RV Resort....in all I replaced over 1/4 mile of fencing, and dug over 100 post holes over a 4 month period....one of my favorite projects ever....
Assembling the new fencing
Finished!
We began Thursday with a 347 mile drive in front of us to San Jacinto, CA where we would pickup the 1982 Newell Classic, 38 foot, sister coach to our 1982 Newell Classic. We left TWW around 8:30 am (Arizona time), made one fuel/bathroom stop in Kingman , AZ, and another somewhere along California 62 before arriving in San Jacinto around 1:35 pm (PST). We were to meet the seller at Farmer Boys (hamburger chain) for lunch, and then head across the street to the storage facility where the sister coach has been stored when not in use. Within 90 minutes the owner had given us a tour of the coach, which is remarkably similar to mine. The first owner was the brother of the original owner of our Newell. Both brothers took delivery on their custom built coaches in early March of 1982 near Denver, CO. Today both coaches have been reunited after all these years....a very cool story!
After taking a test drive Phyllis and the seller completed their business, and we were on our way back to Morongo Casino & Resort, which we had passed on the way into San Jacinto, where we will spend the night before driving the final 310 miles back to TWW. I had booked two rooms for us as the Newell will need some deep cleaning, and restocking (bedding, foot, water, etc) before it is ready for an overnight stay.
The entire day went by without incident, and we arrived in San Jacinto about 15 minutes earlier than we had expected.....nice! I'll post a full set of pictures of the sister coach tomorrow.
Thanks for stopping by!
