Stage 21

5:37 am - Monday - July 28th - LPG&RVR - 52° F, humidity 42%, wind 1 mph out of the south by southeast.....partly cloudy skies today with a forecast high of 86° F.  On this date in 2013 TLE and I were hiking near Glacier National Park.....

.....the view this morning.....

We won't see our next 90+ degree day until August 7th, and then only 91° F...at least that is the forecast.  And, according to that same forecast, we also won't see our next cloudless day until August 6th.  I don't recall this long of a stretch of sub 90 degree days last July; in fact it was in the mid 90's at this time last year, hitting 99° F on August 1st.

Sunday was the 21st, and final Stage of Le Tour de France this year, and unlike so many past years the Yellow jersey group actually raced the entire Stage.  Typically, when the outcome is already determined, like this year, everyone just cruises into Paris to the finish, but this year, at times, they were hitting 48 mph on their bicycles.  I don't know how much cycling you've done, but when I was in my peak fitness I could sustain 22-25 mph for 5-10 minutes at a time, but these guys average almost 20 mph going up a 6% grade, and on the flat, with the right conditions, they can sustain low to high 40's....that is amazing.

After completing my latest post I headed out to the 'lido deck' to watch the balance of Stage 21....

That's Tadej Pogacar in the lead, in Paris, racing all out

It was still a little chilly at 9:30 am, so I had to wear my slippers....lol

.....and that is  where I remained until almost noon time.

For the past 3 weeks I've almost always had Le Tour playing in the background in the morning as I've prepared my daily posts, but this morning (Monday) is the first time in 3+ weeks it is not, and it seems a little strange.

I didn't really do anything else Sunday except putter around the site, and in the trailer, so that's just about all the news I have to report about Sunday, so thanks for stopping by for this oh so brief missive!
