BFAW - Day # 7 - Until Next Time

Tuesday was the last day of my BFAW (Bachelor for a week) time....the four day road trip could not have gone better.  As I have remarked often on this journey it turned out just the way I "saw" happening.  Quality time spent with good friends Krash and Karen, and with my sister Jill.  Jill and are are both early risers.....uh, that is when we get to be at a respectable hour.....and were up before 6.

Last year, if you have been following my blog since then, I wrote about the cool "barn" Jill's husband, Elliott, has.......he was in the process of selling a 1937 Cord turbocharged Westchester Flatback last year when we visited.....a 100% restoration project that took some 13 years.  He has also been buying and restoring Honda motorcycles for many years, and has quite a collection of them in various stages of restoration.  Last year I helped him re-assemble a mid 60's vintage Honda S90 after which I got to test ride it.

This year he has just completed a "build" of a Honda 175 racing bike.  This project was found in a field consisting of just the frame, and frozen motor, and then, essentially, built from that point what you see below.  It has taken just about a year from start to finish.  He built it to resemble a racing bike of that era.  The aluminum gas tank was custom built for him in England.  He was able to salvage the "sloper" motor by rebuilding it.  This is essentially a brand new motorcycle.....even the mufflers are "new old stock" that came in the original boxes off Ebay.

The work Elliott does is just amazing, and his barn/garage is every guy's dream when it comes to working on anything with an engine......his hardware selection is better than most hardware stores I've been in with maybe the lone exception of Stadium Hardware in Ann Arbor.  He has every piece of specialty equipment one would need to do what he does.

Jill and I took a final long walk in our series of long walks since we have reconnected.....we had an extra participant whose name is Nolan....Nolan has the honor of being the 7 month old grandson of Elliott and Jill.  He had his own livery conveyance.....a "running" stroller provided by his mother, Arial.

After returning from our final walk this time around we said our "until next times" and I began my 256 mile journey back to Indianapolis.......with the top down this time.  The weather was beautiful.....partly cloudy and in the high 6o's.  About the 120 mile mark I stopped for lunch, and put the top up for the rest of the journey.  The trip home was just like the trip north (but without the rain).....totally uneventful.

TLE's Southwest flight landed right on time at 11:35 pm.  We spent an hour, or so catching up and were in bed by 2 am.  Wednesday will be a day of packing up, and a little more detail work on the coach.  We'll have dinner Wednesday evening with our INDY 500 friends Rich and Deb, and then it is off to new adventures on Thursday.  We have essentially 11 days to get to Sioux Falls, SD to meet up with our Newell friends.

Thanks for stopping by!
