6:58 am - Tuesday - December 24th - TWW - 38° F, humidity 54%, wind 9 mph out of the southeast.....partly cloudy today with a forecast high of 65° F. On this date in 2018 TLE were winging our way west from Nashville to SoCal for Christmas with our children....
As I write today's missive on Christmas Eve (Tuesday), I realize it's been at least 3 months since I washed the Beetle, and the Expedition has not been washed since Charles and Phyllis drove it up here for us to use, so Monday was dedicated almost solely to washing both of them, but first I needed to repair another flat tire on the Expedition. This time the left rear. We noticed the tire was a little low last Saturday when we were getting ready to drive into Flagstaff, so I added air, and determined to find out the reason in a few days. I was a pretty slow leak, so I felt we had time to get it fixed, and we did.
Since the tire was not flat I drove the Expedition over to the CONEX where the big 60 gallon compressor resides, as well as my air tools. Once I had the tire off it became obvious, pretty quickly, that the slow leak was being caused by a longish framing nail....
.....once the tire was fixed I then proceeded to install the new windshield wipers I bought a month, or so ago. I'm always reluctant to install windshield wipers as the installation process is never, ever intuitive....as least for me. However, on this occasion the old ones came off easily, and the new ones went on even faster.
I spent the next two hours washing both the Beetle, and Expedition, which takes about 3 times longer than the Beetle. I washed both vehicles right next to our IBC water tote where I could hook up our hose, and turn on the water pump to get 60 PSI of water pressure.
By the way TLE and I were able to park both 'side by sides' side by side in the left stall of the garage. Before we had to really park each one at extreme angles to get them in, and close the roll up garage door, but I decided to measure the width of each one and found that the total width of both was less than 8.5 feet, while the garage opening was 9 feet, so we decided to see if we could park them side by side, and it worked! Also, the new solar light is working great....
...drinking one of those is like taking a sleeping pill....lol....I think I took a 1 hour nap after that.
