Almost there.....

7:45 am - Tuesday - January 13th - TWW - 34° F, humidity 38%, cloud cover 0%, wind 5 mph out of the east by northeast....clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 59° F.  The view this morning.....

....and on this date in 2018 TLE and I were taking a walk around Desert View....

....at the east entrance of the Grand Canyon National Park.....

If it is possible, and I believe it is, it was even muddier Monday, than Sunday.  The paths we normally walk from our site to to say the greenhouse, or CONEX are now muddy messes, so we've had to blaze new paths.  Trying to keep that red clay mud off your shoes is difficult, but so necessary.  Once it works its way into the tread of your shoes you must take time to wash it off, or it will dry, and become like concrete, thereby becoming almost impossible to remove.  Last winter after most of the snow storms it would warm considerably, and quickly melt the snow, then dry out the ground.  This time it remained in the low 30's for several days, and has only now begun to warm back into the 50's.

I spent time in the morning sealing the areas beneath the base plate in the greenhouse to further prevent the incursion of cold air at night.  I was able to close off about 70% of the open areas remaining, and hope to finish the final 30% in the next few days.  We still need to secure the Visqueen on the north side of the greenhouse with the furring strips we painted last week, but won't attempt that until the ground on that side is dryer....too muddy right now.....

Used bricks to close the gap under the south side base plate

Used a couple of 2" x 6" boards the land provided to seal most of the east
side gap under the base plate...you can see some of what remains of the gap on the left side in the above picture

.....didn't get a lot accomplished Monday, but I did what I could do.  Hoping Tuesday will be more conducive to more outdoor work.

As you can see from 'the view this morning' picture , and the following pictures, 90+% of the snow has melted after 5 days...

....and the entrance driveway is looking much dryer now.

Thanks for stopping by!
