The 'great' thaw.....relatively speaking....lol!

8:01 am - Monday - January 12th - TWW - 31° F, humidity 33%, cloud cover 6%, wind 10 mph out of the east by northeast.....mostly clear skies this morning, clearing later this morning with a forecast high of 53° F.  The view this morning.....

.....it's rare that I take sunrise pictures, but when I opened the curtains this morning I was compelled to go outside and memorialize today's.  On this date in 2019 TLE and I were in Sorrento, LA enjoying a Southern favorite.....Beignets (pronounced Binyays...a Cajun pastry, I believe), and coffee at a local eatery aptly named 'Coffee House'.....

....with Forest and Cindy Olivier, good Newell friends going back 15, or 16 years.  Wonderful 'salt of the earth' people.  We were on our way back to the Western U.S. from Maine, where we spent the summer of 2018.

The snow from Thursday is about 80% gone now, the ground continues to be mushy/muddy, and there is daily improvement, however, it is still too muddy to do much outdoors.  The area between the coach and the trailer is about 60% free of snow.  The snow that remains is still there because that area is shaded by the trailer all day long.  TLE did take our leaf rake and was able to rake a lot of that snow away to areas where the sun does hit, so it should melt faster now.  Once again the skies were free of clouds, and the daily high was close to 50° F.  Once it gets back into the 50's we should see a rapid acceleration of snow melt.  By Wednesday it will get all the way to 62° F.

Sunday the NFL Wild Card playoffs continued with three more close games.  The morning game between Buffalo and Jacksonville went down to the last 60 seconds before Buffalo pulled ahead by 3 points to win the game.  The afternoon game between the 49ers and the Eagles was also another close game, also decided in the final minute of play with the 49ers prevailing 23-19.  The evening game between the Chargers and the Patriots was close score wise, but the Patriots dominated the time of possession, and even though it was only 6-3 at half time in favor of the Patriots it was really not that close.  The Patriots pulled way in the fourth quarter to win 16-3, and, again, it was not that close.  The Chargers had almost ZERO offense the entire game.  I don't care how good your defense is, you're not going to win if you don't score more than 3 points, period.

Thanks for stopping by!
