TVC - Day 83 - Olympian effort

It's been a while since we took a bike ride in Squaw Valley.....we had made arrangements to meet our college friend, Terri, in Squaw Valley to ride the bike path that takes you all the way to Tahoe City.....about 7.75 miles each way....I loaded up the bikes about 0830 and we were on the road by 0925 headed north.

Fortunately, the highway workers who have been busy all summer making improvements to HWY 89 do not work on Friday's so the drive to Squaw Valley took just over one hour.

Terri arrived a few minutes after us and we were on the road just before 1100 hours......basically the ride to Tahoe City is in two parts....the first is about 2.5 miles of downhill to HWY 89, and then 4.5 miles going uphill to Tahoe City along the Truckee River.  Of course, the return ride is the opposite.  Our plan was to do the 15.5 mile out and back ride finishing in Squaw Valley for lunch.

On our return to Squaw Valley....everyone is still smiling

Squaw Valley holds a special place in my heart, and this view is one of the reasons is why

The bike ride was without incident, and we were back just after 1230 and sitting in the outdoor patio at Fireside Pizza where we all ordered salads.....Caesar for Terri and I, and Cobb for TLE chased with ice tea....

.....while we were eating dark clouds began to hover over 'Granite Chief' and we thought rain was imminent......fortunately the rain held off until we were back in our cars headed for our respective homes.

'Granite Chief' is just to the upper right in this picture....partially obscured by the umbrella we were seated under.

It rained gently on and off all the way back to South Lake Tahoe, but by the time we arrived (1430) at TVC it was dry.

We sat outside the rest of the afternoon reading, and then about 1800 hours we went next door to John and Deb's for a Vodka tasting party....ultimately we had about 10 people in attendance including our manager, Duane....a good time was had by all, and no serious damage was done.....lol.

Back to work tomorrow for another 5 day work week......thanks for stopping by!

  1. Hi Clarke, I have questions about the setup of your car hauler as I am thinking about getting one. Do you wish me to post them here or can we contact via email? Thanks!

  2. Do you have the side track or the ring tie-downs? Strap around the frame or tire nettings? What have you found is best for securing the cargo you have with you, side tie-down rings with straps or some sort of netting? I'm sure I will think of more later. Thanks!

  3. Our trailer came with the "E" track stuff, but I took it out. The only thing I tie down is the car and I use 4 heavy duty cargo straps which I attach to four tie down rings in the floor. No netting.
