TVC - Day 89 - 'Peace and quiet'

This is our second full summer spent in SLT, and I cannot believe, even as I write, that we have not been to Bert's Cafe for breakfast.....it's about 3 blocks from the campground.  Well, we resolved Thursday (our day off) to walk over for breakfast. Yelp gives them 4 stars on 262 reviews.....before I even tell you what I had I will tell you they are as close to a '5' as you can get without actually getting a '5'.

We walked over to Bert's about 1030 hours and arrived to SRO.....initially we were told we would have a 15-20 minute wait to be seated, but when we offered to be seated at the counter, which I love anyway, we were seated immediately.  I have written previously about my love for 'Huevos Ranchero', and I have ordered a bucket load of them over the years.  Back in 1978 we used to go to a Mexican restaurant called Don Ricardo's (no longer there) in Arcadia, CA for brunch on Saturdays.  It cost $2 per person for breakfast, chips and coffee.  They served the best Huevos Ranchero I have ever had.....until Thursday at Bert's.....OMG....I'll let that suffice.  TLE had their Traditional Egg's Benedict, which she also said is one the best she has ever had.

I savored every single bight....the salsa was freshly made and I had two bowls of it!

If you ever find yourself in SLT and are looking for a good breakfast joint, please visit Bert's....it will be worth your time.....they are basically a breakfast and lunch type place.  I hear they also make the most amazing biscuits and gravy, which I am sure I will have to sample soon.  They are a little pricey, but as I have said I don't mind paying the tab if the food is amazing.....'nuff said.

From there we walked over to Kmart to pick up a couple of household items, and then back to TVC for the rest of the day.  I spent time in my trailer doing some deep cleaning, and then the rest of the day under the patio awning reading another James Lee Burke novel called 'Wayfaring Stranger'....part of his 'Holland Family' series.

An interesting thing happened while I was in the trailer....actually this goes back about two weeks.....there is a couple staying in a 5th wheel behind our site 426 ( they are in 359) on the outer loop in 'E' section.  Two weeks ago, the day they arrived, the husband came over to me and asked if I could turn my radio in the trailer off.....not down, but off.  I was standing under the patio awning at the time and could not even hear the radio just 20 feet away, but I was done in the trailer anyway, so I turned it off.  A week later, last Friday, I was in the trailer on my day off working on something, listening to the radio, and went back into the coach for a few minutes to go to the bathroom.  By the time I returned someone had apparently entered my trailer and turned the radio off....weird, huh?  Then yesterday, Thursday, I was doing the aforementioned deep cleaning and went back to the coach to get something....I was gone maybe 5 minutes....I returned to find my radio turned off again.....okay, now I'm getting a little creeped out.....just about that time the wife calls to me from her site and asks if I will turn the radio off because it is bothering them....she goes on to say they came here (TVC) or the 'peace and quiet'......I replied politely, but directly......'well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you came to the wrong place.....we have almost 3,000 people in the park right now, and the only time you will experience any semblance of 'peace and quiet' is from 10 pm to 6 am'.  She then says will you turn the radio down a little?'.....I said yes, and then I did.  Of course that wasn't good enough, so her husband came out this time and I advised him it was going no lower.....he said he would go to the office and file a complaint....to which I advised....'go ahead'.......in about 15 minutes our manager came over and peeked in the trailer and said 'Hi!.....is that the volume the radio was at when they came over to complain?'.....I said 'Yes....is there a problem?'....he said 'no', shook his head from side to side, and walked back to the office.  There is no doubt one of those folks is the serial radio turner offer, but I have no proof, just suspicion....at least my boss backed me up.  A few minutes later I was done, and turned off the radio, closed the trailer door and went to read.  Ahhh, the joys of crowded campground living!

That was our day......I continued reading my book until just after midnight.... just could not put it down.....thanks for stopping by!
