Tripling down.....

6:49 am - Sunday - 27 F degrees, 69% humidity, wind 3 mph out of the south.....normal.  We're looking forward to a 71 F degree high today.....this will be the warmest day we will see until we leave.....the next 14 days will see temps dipping gradually into the low 60's, then into the 40's and 50's.

I reported for work at 9 am Saturday.....I had great aspirations......finish removing and replacing worn out fencing with the new fencing, and begin to build a fence in the rear of Section G to create a dog park for our customers.....that was my plan until I drove out to the end of Melba Drive with Adam (our maintenance manager) to show him the fence work I had done.  We arrived to find someone had already cut a hole in the new fencing I had installed......BLIMEY!!  Below is what the fence looked like when I left it Friday afternoon.......

......looks pretty good, doesn't it?  I thought so at the time.....so I spent the rest of Saturday tripling down on my efforts to close, permanently, this section where folks where driving vehicles into our property.......below is how it looked at the end of Saturday.......

I counted 23 steel posts......up from the original 10 I had put in Friday....I added a second row of fencing across the gap, and then (see below) took the old fencing I had cut out and folded it over the top of the entire length of the fence and then laced in into the new fencing with bailing wire.......

.......then I added four signs to the outside (KEEP OUT AND NO TRESPASSING) to emphasize that we do not want anyone coming through that area again......I know, I know.......someone will probably try to take it down again, however, in the past when I have closed a hole in the fence and have added one of these signs it has stayed closed, so we shall see what we shall see.......

.....if you focus on the left side of the picture where the 'X' is just below the 'NO TRESPASSING' sign, that is where the new hole was cut......just wide enough for someone to walk, or ride a bike through.

As I worked away reinforcing the fence the time just seemed to melt away......before I knew it my watch was telling me it was 3:45 pm.....I had driven over to Scotty's TruValue Hardware around 1 pm to buy up all their 'NO TRESSPASSING' and 'KEEP OUT' signs.....I purchased 16 in all (11 'NO TRESSPASSING', and 5 'KEEP OUT').  As I drove back north on Melba to 'clock out' I attached the rest of the signs to the fence at 50-75' intervals to agument the signs that were already there.

TLE actually worked an 8 hour day......our new office/store hours are 8 am to 5 pm, so she actually opened and closed on Saturday, and she was still in the office when I came in to punch the clock around 4:10 pm.  I managed to garner a few more barbed wire nicks, and tore a hole in the right knee of my 20 year old LEVIS, my hands were very stiff and sore, and I was filthy.......life is good!

I watched the Giants lose (yay) again to the Cubs 5-2, so now the Cubs are up 2 games to none in their best 3 out of 5 series.....one more win and the hated Giants are on vacation until next Spring.  The Dodger game in Washington D.C. was rained out due to Hurricane Matthew, and is scheduled to be played Sunday.  Of course Sunday is NFL Sunday Ticket again......let the games begin!

Thanks for stopping by!
