5:08 pm - Tuesday - August 9th - Likely, CA - 84° F, 41% humidity, wind 14 mph out of the south by southwest.......cloudy with occasional sprinkles.....forecast high was 88° F, but it only got to 84° F. On this date in Coulee City, WA on the shores of Banks Lake for a few days.....↴
It was 71° F by 8 am Monday, and had all the promise of being a warm day, but then the clouds moved in, and we even got a little rain. I wanted to play golf, but not if it was going to be hot. We did take a nice morning walk around the park around 10 am, and covered almost 2 miles in about 30 minutes, and by then it was beginning to get uncomfortably warm, so golf was on the back burner for a few hours....
....when it became obvious it would not be hot I hopped in the golf cart around 2 pm to head over to the driving range to hit some balls before playing the back 9. I ended up hitting a couple of small buckets of balls, and went through virtually all of my golf clubs. I still can't hit the 3 iron very well, but who can, right? By 3 pm I was ready to head to the 10th tee.
I actually was just off the 10th green in two shots....that's a first...I chipped to within 6 feet of the hole, but missed my par putt.....bogey golf is not too bad. The 11th is a par 3, and once again my tee shot was just a few feet to the right of the green. I was able to pitch the ball to within 5 feet of the hole, but missed the par putt once again. I always seem to hit my tee shots on the 12th hole to the right, and sometimes into the sage brush, but this time I put it right in the middle of the fairway. I hit a 5 wood to about 50 yards of the hole, but then my short game failed me somewhat....I managed to get a 6 in spite of myself with a one putt once I was on the green. The 13th hole is a long par 5.....539 yards from the white tees. I hit a good tee shot right down the middle of the fairway, but could not find my ball....doh! I dropped a ball, and kind of topped the ball with my 5 wood, and it only went a 100 yards. My third shot was another 5 wood, and this time I was within 150 yards of the hole, but once again my short game failed me, but I did manage to double bogey the hole.
That was how my round went....I was pretty happy with my tee shots, and 2nd and/or 3rd shots, but my short game was inconsistent. I did manage to finish strong on the 18th hole where I was on the green in two, and managed to two putt to get my second par of the day. During the round I got drenched twice by sudden down pours, and by the time I put my clubs away it was after 5 pm.....what a nice afternoon!
TLE opted to stay home while I played golf to read, and do another load of wash. We had another nice sunset.....
.....we watched a couple of recorded Hallmark feel good movies....don't you just love them? We were in bed around 10:30 pm.
Thanks for stopping by!
