Death of multiple visions.....

8:18 am - Monday - April 10th - Parkhouse Tire, Thousand Palms, CA - 71° F, 22% humidity, wind 5 mph out of the west by northwest.....sunny today with a forecast high of 100° F.  On this date in 2019 I was in Yuba City, CA having dinner with Glenn and Laureen (in-laws) after inspecting their soon to be 1984 Newell Coach.  We dined at Sutter Buttes Brewing Company.....↴

I had this idea of how our last work day at GNHS would end, and the ending bore no resemblance to the actual ending.  We opened the office at 7:30 am for our 8 am customers who were going out for 8 hours.  They were on their way by 8 am, and I headed back inside the Newell to watch round 4 of The Masters.  At that point Brooks Koepka was leading John Rahm by 4 strokes, and seemed destined to win it all.

During a commercial break TLE and I dragged and loaded the artificial turf into the trailer in preparation for BW Beetle insertion later in the day, and then returned to watching The Masters.  Slowly but surely Brooks began to pile up one bogey after another, and John began to collect birdies, but when we headed back outside to welcome our final rental customers of the season (a family of 6) for their 1 pm, three hour rental of one of our RZRs and our last KRX standing.  All of our rentals for the day were due back by 4 pm.  We headed back inside to find that John Rahm was now leading Brooks by 1 stroke...wait, what?

Around 2:45 pm TLE got a text on the COA phone from the family of 6 advising they had rolled the #9 KRX just east of the Trestles (old railroad bridge).  That was the last thing I expected to hear.  They could not get it right side up by themselves, so I called Kyle and the two of us headed out to our final rescue of the season.

By the time Kyle and I arrived someone had come by in a large pickup truck, and was able to put the KRX back on its tires.  It was still drivable, but it looked about as bad as the blue KRX, which was totaled a few weeks ago.  At any rate, Kyle offered to drive the KRX back to the COA office as the wife was in no mood to drive anymore.  By the time we returned to the COA office it was about 4:10 pm, and our other 8 hour customer had also returned his unit.

My vision for Sunday had Brooks Koepka winning The Masters, and all of our UTVs returning unscathed.  Both of those visions died a tragic death.  We aren't sure if the #9 KRX is totalled, but Kyle will take it down to COYNE in El Centro to get it assessed.  John Rahm ended up winning The Masters by 4 strokes....what turn around in both scenarios....who would have thought.

By the time TLE and I closed the COA office for the final time it was almost 5 pm,  and by the time we inserted the VW Beetle into the trailer it was going on 6:30 pm, and we were both ready for a nap....lol!

I was in bed a tad after 9 pm, and TLE shortly thereafter.....Monday will be a better day, right?  Well, stay tuned.  As I write our 4 new Michelins are about to be installed, and within a couple of hours we will be heading north to Bishop, CA.

Thanks for stopping by!
