7:21 am - Monday - April 17th - LPG&RVR - 36° F, humidity 68%, wind 8 mph out of the south by southwest......cloudy today with snow this evening, and a forecast high of 51° F. On this date in 2015 TLE and I woke up to snow on the ground in Flagstaff, AZ, and ironically we may wake up to snow tomorrow morning......↴
Since we had made the decision to stay in site #55 using our current orientation, which is quite the opposite of last Summer, there was a lot to do Sunday, and my mind was swirling with all the things which needed doing before we could even move our artificial turf into place, and then all the normal things we do when we are setting up for a long stay, so Sunday promised to be a day of non-stop activity....at least for moi.
The first major task of the day ,upon which everything else was dependent, was to see if we could get the Newell as level as possible, while not putting the leveling system to its extremes. If that was not possible, then we would need to either have a load of gravel delivered to site #55, or move to site #51. We wished to avoid the extra labor of spreading gravel, so we really wanted this to work. We have been carrying these two large wooden ramps for use under the rear wheels around for 14 years, and have used them just a handful of times, but when we need them, we need them, and we needed them Sunday.
In order to use the ramps we needed to back the Newell up a few feet, place the wooden ramps in front of the right rear wheels, deploy our 'Lego' blocks in front of the right front wheels, then drive onto them. First we had to disconnect the sewer hose, and move the Starlink dishy. It took us about an hour beginning to end to get this done, but in the end we got the desired result, and it only took minor adjustments to the leveling system to get the coach level front to back, and side to side.....
.....once that was done I reconnected the sewer hose, and then, using the balance of our 'Lego' blocks plus half pipes, created a good drain angle all the way to the sewer connection.....
.....next up, and done in no particular order, I deployed our Harbor Freight flag pole.....
....and with TLE's help dragged the artificial turf into position, then deployed the Adirondack chairs.....we did have the awning out at one point, but the afternoon winds out of the southwest forced us to stow it temporarily.....
....next up I began to organize the trailer for efficient use during our 6 month sojourn.....
....I got the two tables set up for the tool bags, and the workbench set up somewhat, but that was as far as I got. By 2:30 pm I was out of gas, and ready for a break....
I still need to pull the bikes out, and set up my Black & Decker Workmate bench, and my 'back machine' (workout bench)
....most of the big stuff has now been done, and what remains (install tire covers, set bikes up, set up Workmate with bench grinder, set up 'back machine', deploy many, many more yard lights, etc.) will probably be finished by the end of business Monday.
Our initial 4 day work week will commence Wednesday, and finish on Saturday this week. Then we'll have the traditional 4 days off work, and so it will go the entire summer.
Thanks for stopping by!
