12th Nomadiversary.....

7:31 am - Thursday - February 1st - GNHS - 55° F, humidity 73%, wind 8 mph out of the southeast.....heavy cloud cover today with 88% chance of rain, and a forecast high of 58° F.  On this date in 2012 TLE and I became nomads, and began traveling full time in our 1982 Newell Classic 36' diesel pusher motorcoach......

Escapees Park in Aguanga, CA - Getting solar installed

Indio, CA

Mesa, AZ

Abilene, TX - Cracker Barrel

Near Tyler, TX - heading for Corpus Christi, TX and the Gulf Coast

Dry camping near Corpus Christi, TX on the Neuces River

South Padre Island, TX

....our first stop was the Escapees Park in Aguanga, CA (near Temecula) where we had our solar system installed.  Next we headed to Indio, CA to visit some dear friends, and watch the Superbowl with them, then, finally, we crossed the California state line into Arizona, and were on our way!  We did not re-enter California again until November of 2013.

While, intellectually, we understood we were going to be traveling full time, and had years to see everything we wanted to see, we acted like we were on vacation that first year crossing the United States 3 times before January 1, 2013, and logging some 12,000+ miles.  Overtime our traveling strategy changed, and we began to take on seasonal Workamping jobs here and there, while spending more time in various locations, as opposed to moving every 4, or 5 days.  Initially we only intended to travel for a couple of years, but here we are 12 years later, still changing our view a few times per year, and still living fulltime in the Newell.  The old girl (she'll be 42 years old March 1st) has stood up well to full time occupancy.  Personally, neither TLE, nor I can imagine living any other way.  We know in our hearts that at some point we'll have to settle down due to health issues, or realizing it is time for  change, but for now we are in good health, and loving each and every day of our vagabond experience.

Now, back to regular programming.  What did we do on Wednesday, January 31st?  Judging by the empty nature of our refrigerator, and pantry we had not done a big shopping for a long time, and I needed a haircut.....my last haircut being January 23rd, so we were off in the VW around 9 am, and arrived at the La Quinta Supercuts at 9:55 am.....5 minutes before they open...perfect!

Our next stop was Stater Brothers where we get our monthly fix of peppered bacon, then Trader Joes to resupply our wine cellar, then COSTCO where I picked up my next 90 day supply of pharmaceuticals, then Ralph's where we bought a lot of food!  From there we headed for home arriving back at GNHS, without incident, at 1:30 pm.  It took TLE the rest of the afternoon to put everything away.....seriously!

Whilst TLE put away our groceries we watched an English Premier match between our beloved Tottenham and Brentford.  Brentford scored an early goal, and was ahead at half time 1-0, but Tottenham came back with a fury in the second half scoring 3 goals in 7 minutes, and won 3-2.  A great day for the home team.

I headed outside around 5 pm to light the Sea-B-Que so we could grill one of the 5 ($8 a piece) New York Steaks we bought at COSTCO, and noticed the sunset was happening, so I lit the Sea-B-Que and then went out to the parking lot to capture a few shots.....

....the sunset lasted about 30 minutes.  All those clouds portend the arrival of our latest rain, which is due in the next couple of hours here at GNHS. By the way, the New York steak was amazing....tender, and very flavorful!

Thanks for stopping by!
