West of Banning Pass.....

7:33 am - Monday - February 5th - GNHS - 54° F, humidity 88%, wind 3 mph out of the south by southeast.....heavy cloud cover today with rain on the way, and a forecast high of 62° F.  On this date in 2013 TLE and I were having lunch at the Frog and Monkey Restaurant and Pub in Mt. Dora, FL......

We ended up with three bookings Sunday, which is busy for any Sunday, except, maybe New Years Eve when we had 11.  Considering the fact that there were maybe 5, or 6 RVs in the park Sunday morning it was surprising to have 3 bookings.  On this occasion we had one all day rental  (2 seat General), and two half day rentals (4 hours - 4 seat RZR, and 4 seat General).  We had all three bookings on their way before 10 am.

With nothing else to do TLE and I took the first of two 1 mile out and back walks averaging 3.4 mph.  The air was still crisp at 10 am, and there was little, or no breeze.....

One of two exits from GNHS to the GLM land

.....it was a beautiful day, and the air clarity was amazing as we walked back up Mineral Hot Spa Road to GNHS......

.....I took a lunch break around 12:30 pm, and by the time I returned one of our 4 hour rentals had also returned, so I drove the 4 seat RZR down to the fuel station, then back to the wash station to rid her of mud she had picked up on her wanderings.  Things have mostly dried out now, and what little mud is picked up by our customers washes off pretty easily.

Around 2:30 pm TLE and I took the second of our daily out and back walks averaging 3.4 mph again.  TLE is really a trooper, and has really picked up her pace the past few days.....

....by 2:15 pm our two half day rentals had returned without incident, and all that remained in the field was our 2 seat General.  TLE and I went ahead and clocked out for the day, and left Hunter to await the return of the General.  Hunter needs the hours, so we gladly defer to him on such occasions.

As I write the West Coast is entering the second of 6 consecutive days of rain, however, here  on the northeast side of the Salton Sea we may get a half day of that rain at best.  Most of the precipitation will fall west of Banning Pass which separates the Pomona and Moreno Valleys from the Coachella Valley.  Santa Barbara is expected to get upwards of 6" of rain from this storm which is a lot of rain in a short amount of time.  Flooding is expected, but we will remain high and dry at GNHS due to the geography of the region.

And, thus, another week at GNHS comes to an end.  I think there will be some soaking by moi in the local hot pools/tubs today (Monday) before the rain comes.  All that being said, thanks for stopping by!
