Round trip record....

7:40 am - Thursday - February 8th - GNHS - 53° F, humidity 65%, wind 12 mph out of the west by southwest.....partially cloudy today with a forecast high of 62° F.  On this date in 2013 TLE and I were in Zephyr Hills, FL visiting friends we made while working at Amazon in Campbellsville, KY......

We had planned to only go as far as Mecca Wednesday for our weekly shopping foray, but TLE had an Amazon package to return via UPS, and the nearest UPS Store is in La Quinta, so to La Quinta we drove, but, as oft happens, I get slightly ahead of myself.

Before heading into La Quinta TLE and I took our 1 mile out and back walk averaging around 3.4 mph....we are really getting consistent.....

.....after a  quick change of garments we were then off in the Beetle driving to La Quinta around 10 am, arriving at the Ralph's supermarket (our favorite local purveyor of grocery items) just before 11 am.  This would be a shopping foray of the small type, and, true to form, we were out the door with our purchases by 11:30 am, and on our way to the UPS Store.  Within 10 minutes we had dropped off the package, and were on our way home arriving back at GNHS around 12:40 pm without incident.....that was the quickest round trip to La Quinta we've ever made!

Wind was forecast for Wednesday afternoon to begin around 1 pm, and it arrived right on time, but this time out of the west by southwest....a much better compass point for us than out of the north.  Our site is protected from wind coming from that direction by two buildings, and a large tree, so while the winds got into the 20's our site was relatively calm, but not calm enough to spend much time outside.

As a result I spent the afternoon reading the second book in a four book post apocalyptic series called Downward Cycle by JK Franks (Amazon).  I'm enjoying it so far, but will update you when I finish the series as to whether it continues to be a good read.

Due to the winds, which continued into early evening, we spent the balance of the day inside.  As I write this morning the winds have long gone, but we did get another 3 hours of unexpected rainfall last night from 2 am to 5 am.  We did not see that coming.  So far, we have no advance COA* bookings for Thursday through Sunday.  Since today, Thursday, is normally a work day we'll remain available in case we get any walkup business, but I'm pretty sure we will take a couple of walks, nevertheless, while we remain available.

Thanks for stopping by!
