Homeward bound......

7:03 am - Monday - April 28th - LPG&RVR - 37° F, humidity 77%, wind 2 mph out of the north by northwest.....cloudy this morning, with blue skies later, and a forecast high of 64° F.  On this date in 2018 TLE and I were in St. Louis, MO having lunch at 'The Saved Duck'.....

....an eatery featured on 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives'.  OMG was the food every amazing!

No matter whether you are on the road, or in a fixed location in your RV, hearing rain on the roof is always delightful, and we heard that sound all night long, and into the early Sunday morning hours at Honey Lake Rest Stop near Janesville, CA.  Originally, the weather guessers indicated it would stop raining around 8 am, but then first thing Sunday morning it had changed to stopping around 10 am, then 11 am....doh....

.....we really don't like driving in the snow/rain, anymore than we like driving in the wind, but we really had our hearts set on arriving at LPG&RVR early in the day to get set up in our site, however, that was not to be.  It had also been raining at LPG&RVR for the prior 2 days, so getting into our summer site (#55) was not going to happen Sunday,

Finally around 10:30 am it stopped raining for a little while, so we turned over the big Detroit Diesel 6v92, and hit the road.  As it turned out it rained almost continuously for the next 80 miles, until we crossed over Sage Hen Pass (5,555' above elevation) around 11:45 am into the Pit River Valley where we saw sun for the first time in 3 days.

Every time return to LPG&RVR it feels like coming home, and this day felt no different.  We have a whole community of friends here whom we miss all winter, and look forward to the reunion.  As we drove up the hill into the park we could see Sunday's departing guests had left deep tire tracks in the gravel/mud interior roads of LPG&RVR, and we didn't want to do the same to Employees Row (sites 51-55), so we, instead, pulled into pull through site #23, which was already a mess, where we will remain for 24 hours until the ground becomes more firm again.....

......and then we will move.  It will take a few days to smooth those roads out again, but first they need a lot of sun.  The official opening day this year is May 1st, and that is only 3 days away.

At any rate, after 7 days on the road we have come home, and will be stationary for 5 months.  The summer will be fun as it always is, and the time will pass much too quickly, as it always does.  Before we know it we will be hauling anchor again to head south to TWW for the winter.  Before we leave here we will celebrate our 54th wedding anniversary, and our 76th birthdays.....where have the years flown?

As I sit here at my laptop trying to string a few intelligible words together for your reading pleasure, I can see the electrical pedestal at site #55, where we will be in just a few hours.  Time to get dressed, and do a little site preparation before the move.....

The electrical pedestal is that greenish metal box
in the lower left corner of the picture above

....thanks for stopping by!
