8:01 am - Sunday - April 13th - TWW - 60° F, humidity 12%, wind 8 mph out of the south by southwest....mostly clear skies today with a forecast high of 79° F. On this date in 2020 my mother, Virginia, passed through the veil that separates us from the next life to rejoin my father, Arthur Ray......
....this picture was taken in October of 2014.
TLE and I had plans to install the remaining 16 corrugated polycarbonate roof panels on the greenhouse roof Saturday, but the winds freshened early, making it difficult, if not dangerous to try and maneuver those panels into position in the wind, so we deferred that task until Sunday.
Instead, I focused my attention on our 1969 Chevrolet C-50 tilt bed truck. I noticed when I took delivery a few months ago that the passenger door would not open from the outside.....
.....the button you would depress to open the door was completely collapsed inside the door handle. You could open the door from the inside, but not from the outside. It was the perfect job for a windy day. To get at the mechanism I removed the door panel on the inside of the door.....
......thankfully, however, these handles are readily available online, and I found one on eBay for $14. In all I spent around an hour beginning to end fixing the door so it will open from the outside. Once that was fixed I headed back indoors to watch the third round of The Masters.
It was an amazing 3rd round with most of the leaders getting out to quick starts, but none quicker than Rory McIlroy, who carded six consecutive 3's to move from 6 under par to 11 under par in the first 6 holes (birdie on 1, eagle on 2, par on 4, and birdie on 5, and par on 6).....
.....he is the first player in the history of the Masters to start any round with 6 consecutive 3's....amazing. He had a few bogeys over the course of the round but rallied late to end up 12 under par after 3 rounds, with a 2 stroke lead. Maybe this will be his year to complete the Career Grand Slam (winning all four Majors, The Masters, PGA, US Open and British Open at least once each during his career). Only 4, or 5 other golfers have accomplished that. Tiger Woods actually won all four majors, consecutively, in a single 12 month span. Rory's last Major win was in 2014. That was our day, and what an exciting day of golf it was.
Thanks for stopping by!
