The decks......

7:23 am - Wednesday - April 30th - LPG&RVR - 40° F, humidity 83%, wind 2 mph out of the north....partially cloudy this morning with clearing later this morning, and a forecast high of 68° F.  On this date in 2016 TLE and I got our first view of Lake Tahoe as we descended from Spooner Summit into the Lake Tahoe Basin for the third time in as many summers.....

.....there was still snow on the ground on May 1st.

We had a lot to do Tuesday to set up our 'lido deck', and 'dining/gaming deck', but before we began to do any of that work we took our first out and back walk of the summer.....

....we really fell down on our walking this winter, only taking ONE out and back walk while at TWW, so we are determined to get off to a better start this summer.  It seemed like just yesterday that we last took this walk, but it has been over 6 months.  Surprisingly, to me at least, we did pretty well, although we were stopped three different times by passers by welcoming us back to LPG&RVR....even Glenn, the UPS guy stopped to say high, and welcome us back.  That's what I love about a small community!  Anyway,  we usually cover the 2 miles in about 35 minutes, but on this date, with all the stops, it took us 40 minutes.  That will be an easy record to break Wednesday.....lol.

Once back we took the dive and got to work.  Every year we've come here we do things a little differently than the year before.  We actually parked the trailer about 10' back from the Newell hitch, and parked the Newell closer to the utilities.  Over the next few weeks things will continue to evolve, but we have our basic setup complete after a few hours of work......

.....we had to jack the passenger side of the trailer up with one of our 20 ton bottle jacks to get it level from side to side, then created a gravel mound under the raised tires, upon which we placed some of our 'Lynx Leveling Blocks', before lowering the trailer back down.  It is now perfectly level from side to side, and front to back!

Next up was to pull the large artificial turf piece out of the trailer and onto the 'lido deck', and then connect it to the trailer with two other turf pieces we carry with us so we can walk to the trailer without putting on shoes.  Once the patio awning was deployed, we attached the sun screen, and we had the beginnings or this year's 'lido deck'......

Site #55 is high in front meaning we must lower the front end quite a bit to get level, and whenever we level the coach to an extreme like that it will not stay level for long, so I put jack stands under the rear of the coach to keep it from settling, which it will do over time.

.......once that was done we began work on the 'dining/gaming deck' site to make it more level than it was last year, then put down a piece of turf, and moved the picnic table into position.  Eventually we'll have a dining canopy with sides there when the mosquitoes arrive for the summer in a few weeks, but for now this will do......

......I spent the afternoon putting the finishing touches on what TLE and I had done (installed the wheel covers on the Newell and American trailer, installed the rope tie downs for the patio awning, etc.), as well as beginning to organize the trailer interior so I can deploy all of my tools, and turn it into a garage once again.  By 2:30 pm I was knackered, and ready for a shower, dinner, and a nap....not necessarily in that order.

We've gotten a lot done on our site in the 2+ days we've been here, and the park is beginning to dry out from the last storm, plus fill up with customers, even though May 1st is the official opening day.  On Thursday, May 1st, we'll shift gears and begin our first 4 day work week, and 4th summer here at LPG&RVR.

Thanks for stopping by!
