Back to work....

5:35 am - Thursday - August 14th - LPG&RVR - 56° F, humidity 36%, wind 1 mph out of the east by southeast.....sunny today with a forecast high of 88° F.  On this date in 2014 TLE and I took a bike ride around South Lake Tahoe.....

......this place is called Tahoe Commons, and was one of our favorite biking destinations in South Lake Tahoe.

Back to work.  The golf course and RV park continue to be only slightly less unbusy than the prior two weeks.  We are used to things slowing down after the 4th of July weekend, but this slowdown is way beyond anything we've experienced the past 3 summers.  While we did rent 13 golf carts Wednesday, it didn't really even feel that busy.  It's certainly a mystery, but the work continues whether, or not we are full, it's just different work.

On Wednesday I opened the gate valve at the base of the pond to begin irrigating the 10 back-in sites, and the first three tent sites.  It's been a few weeks since this has been done as we had a lot of rain over that span of time, but after making a run through the back-in sites early Wednesday it was obvious the grass needed to be irrigated.  To begin the day I had 4, or 5 carts to wash, and staged 6 initially, but people kept coming in to play golf who hadn't reserved tee times, so that number eventually increased to the aforementioned 13.

You might recall that I began cutting the 'suckers' off the trees on the slope above the employee sites last week, and after staging the carts I headed out to do some more of that, plus I pulled some more Russian Thistle that was growing at the end of the row of trees near the cart path.  There was no breeze, and everything seemed very still, and being in the direct sunlight for less than an hour overheated me, so I took a break in the Clubhouse where the swamp cooler had it nice and cool, for about 30 minutes.  By the time I had cooled down it was after 11:30 am, and almost time for TLE's lunch break, so I made a round of the RV park, checking on the irrigation progress while I was at it.  By noon time the water had moved through 3 of the back-in sites....still a long way to go.

Carts began to return during TLE's lunch break, so I began washing and stowing them, while staging another four carts in case there were any more last minute golfers, but there were not.  By the time 3:30 pm rolled around just 7 of the 13 rented carts had been returned, so I'll have 6 to wash first thing Thursday, which at first glance looks less busy than Wednesday, but we'll see.

We've been in a hot streak the last 5 days here at LPG&RVR with temps getting as high as 98° F on Tuesday, but relief is in site as they will dip into the low 80's through next Tuesday.  After this week's payday we'll have just three more paydays left before it is time to haul anchor and head south for the winter.

Thanks for stopping by
