5:40 am - Friday - August 15th - LPG&RVR - 49° F, humidity 33%, wind ZERO mph out of the north by northeast.....crystal clear, blue, sunny skies today with a forecast high of 88° F. On this date in 2020 TLE and I were near Coupeville, WA at the property of good friends....
.....Bob and Karen Fenstermacher.
We rented another 12 golf carts Thursday. I had to tow one of them back to the Clubhouse (Yamaha gasser #56) from the 13th tee box around 11:30 am as it suddenly refused to move forward, only backwards. In four years I think that's only the 3 Yamaha breakdown we've had. I spent most of the morning mowing all 15 of the pull through sites (21-35), the small gazebo, the group firepit, and all five employee sites. My good friend, Claude Banker, offered to do all of the trimming around all those sites, and move the picnic tables, which really sped up the process. I also picked up the tree trimmings and weed 'pullings' from Wednesday and hauled them to the future burn pile.
The temps were in the high 80's Thursday, and there was virtually NO wind, which makes it feel warmer than it is. I tried to remain out of direct sunlight as much as I could, but that can be difficult in an outdoor job, right? With 12 carts out, plus those owned by members, the course was busier than it has been, but still pretty empty. I think I sold 7, or 8 beverages during TLE's lunch break, and answered the phone a few times, but that was it.
After lunch I washed and stowed the six golf carts which had been returned, and ran the sprinklers at the large grass area by site #30 for about 2 hours, but that was pretty much it for work. I was home before 3:30 pm getting a cool shower, then a long nap before returning to the Clubhouse to give TLE a ride home at 5 pm. Of course, I went down to the 'Night Office' to flip the sign, and post the site availability for people arriving after 5 pm. I'll have the remaining 6 golf carts to wash first thing Friday. As usual, upon arriving home, one of us (I think it was TLE this time) said 'Happy Hump Night', which is what we call the evening that divides the first two work days from the last two workdays. The last two days always seem to go by quickly.
Thanks for stopping by!
