Pack it up day

We have reservations for 11:45am tomorrow on the Coupeville/Port Townsend Ferry for our coach, so today, Tuesday, we must pack everything up we have taken out over the 2 weeks we have been here.

Yesterday, Monday, I spent part of the day steam cleaning our large rear facing radiator.  Every few months, or 6,000 miles, it should be cleaned.  This is the first time I've been able to use steam, and was able to remove 98% of the "gunk" build up on the side facing the engine.  The engine side is the side that gets dirty as the air flows from the engine compartment out the rear of the coach, therefore, a build up of road and engine grime occurs which in turn begins to restrict the airflow through the radiator which is most notable on hotter days.  I noticed the temperatures rising higher than normal on our grind up to Washington Pass a couple of weeks ago.  Fortunately our friends have a mobile pressure washer with a heater that can get the water up to 250*F, more than enough heat to melt the gunk.  I was careful to dial back the pressure so avoid damage to the fins on the radiator.

This is the the BIG radiator!

I also spent time checking the air pressure of all 6 tires on the coach, and all 4 tires on the trailer...the coach tires were mostly about 5 psi low, and one was 10 psi low.  All 4 trailer tires were 10 psi low.  For the most part the coach tires have really held their pressure on this journey.  This is only the 3rd time I've had to add air in 8,000 miles!

We bid farewell  last night to Karen who headed back into Seattle for her work first thing this morning.

Today, Tuesday, we will spend part of the day putting things away......we've gotten better about not unloading EVERYTHING when we stop for more than a week, but this time we put out the awning, the awning mat, and the double chair.....the awning was out mostly due to the rain every other day, and with it out we were able to keep the ground in front of our door mostly dry.  Along with the awning mat out we were able to avoid tracking in mud, water, leaves, etc.

Before we get seriously involved with packing we will head into Oak Harbor to do some shopping for food staples, pick up a few items at Radio Shack to aid in my next round of LED light conversions, and visit a couple more thrift stores.  When we get home we will plunge into the packing part of the day.

Our plan is to either park overnight in the parking lot of the Super Walmart in Sequim, WA (pronounced squim), or snag a spot at one of two Passport America campgrounds in Sequim. Over the next week we will work our way west and then south on the Olympic Peninsula into Oregon.  We found out there is also a Costco in Sequim, so we will definitely be making a stop there.  We are still enjoying the cool weather in Washington, and are still thankful we opted to spend the summer in the northwest.  No doubt we will eventually hit heat as we trek eastward after Labor Day back to Kentucky, and it will be time to turn on the A/C again, but for now we are enjoying the 60* days immensely.

Thanks for stopping by!
