Down time
This is how our day ended about a half hour ago.....sunset at almost 10pm!
The Tour d' France had a day off today.....they do give the riders a break every seven days, so I slept in 'til 8am! I haven't done that in a long, long time.
We were going to ride our bikes down to the Coupeville Ferry bound for Port Townsend, but Elaine woke up with a sore throat and feeling slightly under the weather, so I gave her a rain check. It worked out well as I needed to go into Oak Harbor to Bicycles Northwest to get a replacement spoke for the rear tire of the tandem, mail some letters, and get a couple of things for Elaine at Safeway.
I had noticed yesterday that the rear brake on the tandem was rubbing the rim on the rear tire, which was caused by the rear wheel wobbling. A little while after we returned home from our ride yesterday I put the tandem on the bike stand to examine the rear wheel, and discover what the problem was. As I rotated the wheel around I discovered a broken spoke which was the cause of the wobble in the wheel. The bike shop had exactly what I needed for $2.16. It took me about 30 minutes to remove the rear free wheel, and the drag brake, and install the replacement spoke, and the wobble is now gone!
I spent the rest of the afternoon reading outside, and enjoying the wonderful weather. It looks like we have more of the same weather in store for tomorrow when I hope we will be in Port Townsend for the day.
Not much else to report......thanks for stopping by!
