After the marathon driving day Tuesday we opted for a non marathon day.....kind of a day of self indulgence, but in a good way. We drove into Borrego Springs around 11 am to fill our 6 gallon water container, to do some junking, and to buy a mocha frappuccino (for moi....an ice coffee for TLE), and it was pretty much in that order. Acquiring the water was rather routine, and we did find a couple of things at Frugal Coyote without which we could not see ourselves living one more day, but the highlight (for moi) was the mocha frappuccino at Bighorn Fudge....we just sat there enjoying the balmy breezes, talking quietly about this and that, and just generally enjoying the cool vibe that permeates Borrego Springs Village......
.....as we were driving back to the Newell I spied some firewood being sold on the side of the road near the airport....one of those do it yourself places.....pick out 4 bundles, and deposit your $20 bill in the 'iron ranger'.....we were down to the last four pieces of firewood we brought with us from RORVR, and it was time to finally pay for firewood, so we did.....
.....and now our firewood supply has been rejuvenated for another 10 days worth of sunset fires.....this wood is much harder than the pine we had, so we expect to get more mileage out of each log.....
.....we spent the afternoon on the 'lido deck' once again.......all to soon the shadows began to lengthen announcing the end of the daylight portion of our day, another sunset in the Anza Borrego Desert.....
....we were in position by 5 pm to watch Wednesday's version of another subtle Borrego sunset....
.....the fire was lit, and all that remained was to enjoy the view and fire for another hour before I lit the Sea-B-Que to grill some carne asada for street tacos.....
.....while I was waiting for the Sea-B-Que to come up to operating temperature I snapped this early evening shot of our decorative light display.....
......and once again a very happy, mellow guy bids you all adieu....thanks for stopping by!
